Resumen del Editor

Dear Madam President is an empowering letter from former Hillary Clinton Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri to the first woman president, and by extension, to all women working to succeed in any field. By using lessons learned during her experiences with Hillary Clinton, President Obama, and Elizabeth Edwards - to name a few - Palmieri through each chapter creates a forward-thinking framework of inspirational and practical advice for all women everywhere - from boardrooms to living rooms - who are determined to seize control of their lives, their workplaces, and their country. Dear Madam President will turn the results of the 2016 election into something incredibly empowering for future female leaders and independent thinkers everywhere.

As a country, we haven't wrapped our heads around what it should look like for a woman to be in the job of President. Our only models are men. This of course was seen during the Hillary Clinton campaign, and no one knows this better than Jennifer Palmieri. While wildly disappointed by the outcome of the election, Palmieri optimistically argues in the book that the Clinton candidacy and all she experienced on the campaign trail - confusion, admiration, hate, love, acceptance, rejection - can now open the country up to reimagining women in leadership roles. And that is what Palmieri takes on in this book - redefining expectations for women looking to lead and creating a blueprint for women candidates and leaders to follow.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"My book explained what happened and where we need to go from here. Jennifer Palmieri picks up the ball and runs with it in this book. It's about being a woman, working for a woman, and telling the stories of the personal and professional ups and downs that all women need to hear as we chart our individual and collective futures." (Hillary Rodham Clinton)

"A powerful, personal, and sometimes painful book written for any woman who has ever thought of becoming a leader. I hope it inspires more women and girls because their voices and their leadership are needed now more than ever." (Madeleine Albright)

""Our first woman president, whomever she may be, will no doubt be wise and open enough to seek advice from the best in the business. The advice and insights Jennifer Palmieri has garnered from years on the frontlines of politics and life will make any leader better." (Maria Shriver)

It’s about me, you, us

If you ever feel small and your workplace, or in life, or in general; this book is for you. I felt so empowered after listening to the struggles and feeling encouraged by Jennifer’s words to me. Sure it’s about the election and the campaign but that was the experience that Jennifer had, she was looking to speak to all of them and kind and let us know that we shouldn’t quit and we shouldn’t give up and we shouldn’t let them win.

Amazing! Wonderful insight told by your new bff

I’ll be frank. I’ve worked on several of the same campaigns as Jen. Bunches of mutual friends but for no particular reason, we never really crossed paths much. I regret this now! Her story is so inspiring and she is brutally honest. Absolutely loved hearing it in her voice — it was like a dear pal catching me up on what’s been happening (with a dash of introspection and advice for the future!)

Great read,Inspiring, Heartwarming

Where does Dear Madam President rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've only listened to 3 books, but it ranks very high.

What other book might you compare Dear Madam President to and why?

I haven't read other books like this but I felt she was truly talking to me, and I really understood her feelings about this intense time in her life and the history making that Hillary Clinton and Jennifer continue to do.

What does Jennifer Palmieri bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice, her emotions, she brought me to tears several times.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

When she spoke of her 11"s . We earn them and can be proud of them.

Any additional comments?

I know that women's issues are a hot political issue. As a woman who understand the extra scrutiny a woman subjects herself to when she leaves the home and puts herself in the work world of "men" I thank Jennifer and Hillary Clinton and the other countless women who continue to push the " envelope" and break the "glass ceilings" for their service and sacrifice.

There will be a woman president someday soon

Authored by the former communication director for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, Jennifer Palmieri, Dear Madam President: An Open Letter to the Women Who Will Run The World, is written to all future women leaders, and to our future woman president of the United States because, of course, there will be a woman President here someday. "As a country, we haven't wrapped our heads around what it should look like to have a woman in the job of President."

“A woman can be both strong and emotional.” Seeking to "redefine expectation for woman looking to lead and to create a blueprint for women to follow” Palmieri's book is written to all of us - women who support other women and women working to succeed in her chosen field. “People take their cue from you.” That’s it. If you act like you belong in the room, people will believe you do. If you act like your opinion matters, others will, too. Simple, true, empowering, and life-changing advice. It is applicable for all women in every endeavor we undertake.”

For those of us who had our hopes dashed in the 2016 presidential election results, Dear Madam President turns the results of the 2016 election into something more hopeful and empowering. “When it comes to pleasing the masses in a patriarchal society, women seeking power can’t win playing by the old man-centric rules. This is why we should stop expecting to find ourselves reflected in our country’s history and models of power, and write our own story.”

Part memoir, part analysis and part advice, Palmieri speaks about the challenges of running HRC's campaign; the unprecedented verbal abuse, the character assassination, the lies. “Feeling the pain is part of standing in the storm. You shouldn’t try to escape it or suppress the grief the pain causes. The pain isn’t what will defeat you. What matters is what you choose to do once the storm passes.” Dear Madame President is not a tell-all, but rather a straight up analysis of what went down. “Her-story. Don't search for your role is his-tory, write your own. The future is female. The past was too it's just that no one thought it important enough to bother writing it all down.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Continued in Comments-

More Important Quotes from Dear Madam President:

“TSAHIJDL. Get to know it. Whether you are running for president or any woman who challenges the status quo. “There’s something about her I just don’t like.” And its sister complaint: “There’s something about her I just don’t trust.”

“I have always thought that I could do any job a man can do just as well as him. Only recently have I come to realize that I don’t want to. I want to do the job the best way I can do it, not the way he would.”

“Think of all the times you have heard someone say they passed on sharing something that was particularly moving because they didn’t think they could get it out without crying. That’s a shame. Think of all the incredible things we didn’t get to hear because someone was scared we would see them cry."

Profound. Really.

Great insight into Palmieri herself - and she does a great job reading it. Wonderful context to events of our lifetime. A strong, courageous human woman. I didn't know much about her and now I deeply admire her.

The way that she chose to tell this story is a breath of fresh air. Reaching out to the woman who will one day be President. Emotional but no whining. Well done. I'd like to personally thank her for all she has done and for *THIS* perspective.

Don't miss this.

Beautiful, uplifting

This book is incredible, open, honest, raw, real. As a woman and a Hillary supporter, it gave me all the feels and heals some small part of the wound left by the 2016 presidential election, at the very least it has salved my soul in a way that makes me excited to move forward both as a woman and as someone who supports women and hopes to see a madam president in my lifetime.

More insights into 2016

Having already read HRC’s book about 2016 this new one from her Communications Director added a new layer of insights.

The book is quite brief yet far reaching. The author worked in Bill Clinton’s WH, Obama’s WH, and for the campaign of John Edwards among other things on her resume. And as horrifically stressful as the 2016 campaign was, for the author it was personally awful as well as she lost her sister within days of losing the election.

The book looks back on many aspects of the election but also looks forward to a time when we will have our first female President after 240 plus years, and how we get there from here.

So I recommend this book to anyone interested in our current situation as well as anyone trying to figure out how to cope day to day with nearly unbearable stress. The author offers insights into both.

Comforted

Jennifer led me on an adventure that in reality I knew it was true. Listened in one setting. Wished there was more. Jennifer's voice was very soothing and comforting to me. She was not defeated and was glad to know Hillary is not also. I really struggle not knowing how people can live with themselves knowingly being ignorant. Jennifer gave some very advice for our future Madam President. I am hopeful for my grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thank You!
