Audible number-one best seller Peter Clines returns with a thrilling tale of the creature above - and the deadly threat below.

In the year 2243, the Moon belongs to the dead.

The largest graveyard in the solar system, it was the perfect solution to the overcrowding and environmental problems that had plagued mankind for centuries. And the perfect place for Cali Washington to run away from her past.

But when a mysterious meteor crashes into one of the Moon’s cemeteries, Cali and her fellow Caretakers find themselves surrounded by a terrifying enemy force that outnumbers them more than a thousand to one. An enemy not hindered by the lack of air or warmth or sustenance.

An enemy that is already dead.

Now Cali and her compatriots must fight to survive. Because if they don’t, everyone on the Moon may be joining the dead.

And maybe everyone on Earth, too....

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Narrator Ray Porter actually catches a break with this gruesome science-fiction audiobook. Much of this thriller's cast is composed of thousands of silent zombies, so Porter doesn't have to differentiate much among them.... But he still shines while bringing to life multinational characters, ably employing distinctive accents and timbres. He really ramps up the tension as a dwindling handful of survivors struggles to save humankind from a chilling threat." (AudioFile Magazine)

Featured Article: The top 100 series of all time

The feeling of discovering that your favorite new listen is actually the start of a series is euphoric. That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

Editor's Pick

Two Words: Moon. Zombies.
"That’s all it took to turn my attention to Dead Moon! I for one can’t imagine anything scarier than combining the isolation of the moon with going head to head with an enemy (or thousands) that don’t need air to survive—but trust me when I say that that’s just scratching the surface. With Peter Clines’s incredible world-building and Ray Porter’s spot-on narration, just add a dash of humor and know that you’ve got a recipe for an un-pause-able listen! Now, I must admit that, despite the rave reviews heard around the Audible offices for 14 and The Fold, I’ve never listened to the Threshold Series. So worry not, whether you’re a fan whose been eagerly awaiting this next installment or a newcomer, Dead Moon stands on its own as a sci-fi thriller that starts out somewhat eerie, and quickly amps up the tension." —Catherine H., Audible Editor

14 and The Fold were great and I just don't think Dead Moon was as good as the first two. Not even close.

Hate to say it but it was disappointing

This doesn't seem like it belongs with the Threshold series; more of a stand-alone zombie story. To be fair, I'm a little over halfway through, but unlike 14 or The Fold, we're not given much in the way of character development. I don't really care about any of them so when they get killed off, I'm less invested in their (at times pointless, why did you do that?) death. While I am a huge fan of zombie-lore and Peter Clines, and initially thought this was an extremely clever environment for a rising of the dead adventure, I was hoping for something more in line with 14 & The Fold. So far, no easter eggs or hints pertaining to the previous books that I've noticed. Or they were too vague. I've found I either love Clines' books or am in the middle. This one falls in the middle (in the same family as Paradox Bound). Loved 14, Dead Men Can't Complain, and The Fold. And Ray Porter does a great job narrating. Had this been a stand-alone and not introduced as part of the Threshold series, with more character development, because as they start dying off you are like Who was that again?, I think it would have been better received by reviewers/listeners.

Update: once you hit the last three or four hours, the last two especially the book vastly improved and you start to see the relationship to the Threshold series. However, I still think some character development in terms of our main characters especially would have benefited the book greatly. So I am adding stars to my original review.

Um, How is This Part of the Threshold Series

Love the other two in the series, this one not so much. Thought there were too many characters introduced at once and got kind of mixed up. Also and I really don't understand why I do this sometimes. I pretty much only read/listen to SF/fantasy. I can believe in zombies, vampires, werewolves BUT I could not suspend my disbelief on the cost effectiveness of sending bodies to the moon. Just could not wrap my mind around it.

Not my fav.

I loved the first 2 books in this series and was excited to listen to this one. but honestly was found quite bored most of the book. the story seemed quite pointless. With boring characters and mostly useless ones. the first half just dragged on. second was better.

I love Ray Porter and listen to most books he narrates. he is a master.

overall still mostly enjoyed the book. just not for me I guess.

Not my Favorite.

I loved the first two Threshold novels, Fold and 14. Ray Porter is also brilliant as always. 5 stars for him.

This book honestly didn't feel like that universe at all. Too far in the future to be relevant, too isolated to relate to the Strange monsters of the other books. Also the pacing is off. It's all zombie action without real character development or even plot until the last two hours. Frankly most of the characters are annoying, self absorbed and stupid. Decisions made by the characters made me want to throw something and stop listening.

All and all, Dead Moon just doesn't have the imagination and characters that made me speed read 14 and the Fold. For most of the book it's a zombie flick on the moon. Meh? Even as it shifted out I wasn't enthralled. I hope. There is a fourth Threshold novel, but on closer to our time and keeping the strange elder gods out... And with more build up.

Sadly Disappointing Threshold Novel

but I want more. many missed opportunities to change a mediocre book into a great one.

The weakest of the Threshold books by far

Wasn't great, and I really liked the first 2 in this series. I very much liked 14 and was excited when I saw this, what was supposed to be a part of that series. It was not even close to what I expected considering what 14 and The Fold was. Those were fun, this was like a short story that never developed and went on way to long. Can't recommend.

Eh..

So this story is not as mind blowing as the last to in the series, but still a good story. The character development isn't as there as it was for the last stories, and the pacing is much faster this time. however, I did enjoy the slow pace of the last books and it built the suspense and characters.

Good story. Not amazing, but pretty close.

I didn't buy this book initially because of all the bad reviews. Maybe it doesn't have the mystery of 14 or the originallity of the fold, but the characters were strong and we'll developed, and I cared what happened to them. This book is worth your time.

people have been a little bit hard on this book
