Not sure

I'm not sure about one aspect of the story. I don't want to say what it is because it would be a spoiled for readers. However, I do want to know what happens next.

Worth the wait!!

I loved it!! One of my favorite things is the way the relationship between Robert and Edward is evolving. The sarcasm is great!! Will anxiously await the next.

I prefer the original narrator Liz Gentle

Love the Duchess of Blackmore books. I really prefer the voice of Liz Gentle over Grace Noble. Liz does the characters voices so much better than Grace. Sorry Grace. Lenora's lady's maid is a middle aged Scottish woman not some high pitched teenager. I want Liz back! Please??

Abrupt ending

It ends with no conclusion of the story. Just as it starts to wrap things up it ends with no thought of the reader and just ends.

Couldn't Wait for it to be OVER!

While I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series and it felt promising, I think the books got worse as they went on. One of my biggest pet peeves was how much "filler" there was as if the author was trying to make the book longer than it needed to be. Every single scene and conversation was soooooo drawn out, that I grew increasingly frustrated. Even moreso when, by the time the conversation concluded, there was no decision or resolution anyway. For example, they find her mother's journal, and after several pages of dull conversation and back-and-forth about it, we still don't get to hear what's in it anyway. The decision was made to put it in someone else's hands and report back with any useful information. When this said person did report back the next day, we had to endure yet another drawn out conversation about why he disturbed them so early in the morning. It was just ridiculous, and I zoned out on more than one occasion.

Another thing that bothers me, because it becomes a discrepancy in the story, is that as they're trying to figure out what reason someone would have to kill her father, these "detectives" somehow completely forgot about a key part of an earlier conversation with a neighbor who told them she overheard the bad guys saying, "Where is she? We will find her with or without you." Obviously that right there tells us why the father was murdered, but then they waste time looking into his finances to see if it had something to do with that. And these are supposed to be our heroic detectives? Please.

Furthermore, there is more chemistry between the wife and the brother-in-law than there is with the wife and her husband. We get more scenes with the brother than we do with the husband, so much so that I found myself wishing they would get together instead. And when we do hear interactions between husband and wife, there are no tender moments and nothing to build a believable foundation to their love or relationship. He is always annoyed with his brother, which gets very old and boring after the first 100 times, and all he ever wants to do is give his wife a drink and put her to bed to rest. I can't even begin to express how frustrating it is.

They also changed the narrator for this book for some reason, so everyone's voices were different from what we grew used to during the first three books. Not detrimental to the story, but a bit distracting.

Finally, we still have the unresolved issue of the baby girl and the dead friend. The book ends with "to be continued," but at this point, I've lost interest.
