Resumen del Editor

Once he was known as the Angel Remiel, but generations ago, Boston PI Remy Chandler chose to renounce heaven and live on earth, where he found a secure place among us ordinary humans…

But now, having lost the love of his life, Remy finds himself turning more and more away from his human friends and his everyday existence. He’s begun to seek out dangerous jobs—those that involve the supernatural, those that bring him into contact with his past.

Like his latest case: the theft of a cache of ancient weaponry stolen from a collector who deals in antiquities of a dark and dubious nature. The weapons, Remy knows, were forged aeons ago and imbued with unimaginable power. If they fall into the wrong hands, they could be used to destroy not only Heaven but also Earth. And to prevent that, Remy Chandler must decide whether he is willing to lose the last of his own humanity…

Good book if audilbe.com will let you buy it

I read the first of this series "A Kiss Before The Apocalypse" back in 2011. I loved the graphic novel feel of the plot: Remy Chandler, a Seraphim who walked away from Heaven after the war between the angels, has lived for millennia on Earth in human form but has only recently found and married the love of life, now has to risk everything to save the world from the apocalypse. It doesn't get better than that. Except, actually, it does because he has a labrador called Marlowe that he can communicate with.

At the end of the book, my only regret was that I didn't know more about Remy's backstory with his wife and that the cover art was appalling.

I came back to the series this year, with "Dancing On The Head Of A Pin", this time in audiobook format.

The good news is: there's a lot of back story on Remy's relationship with his wife, his dog and his best human friend and it's all well written (although very sad) and Nick Daniels does a great job of the narration.

The bad news is that the cover art is still awful.

This book retains the graphic novel feel and mostly does very well with it. The violence is graphic and frequent from the almost the first page onwards. If this was a graphic novel, there would be blood and gore and body-parts everywhere. I thought some of the fight scenes went on for too long and the angel on angel confrontations were hard to get engaged with.

I loved the parts with Marlowe and also with the Rottweilers guarding one of the buildings Remy visits.

I enjoyed the book enough to look for the next in the series. Then I found that none of the series are available in audiobook format in Europe anymore - including "Dancing On The Head Of A Pin". This mirrors what's happened with the Kitty Norville books. I can only get them in Europe as CDs. This is beginning to annoy me.

What is audible.com up to? It's time they joined the twenty-first century and found a way around nineteenth century copyright agreements. If that means paying a premium the way I used to on imported books and records in the last century, I could put up with the for a while, but Amazon have made audible the fastest growing audiobook platform in the world, so I don't understand why they aren't taking a more global view.

More Fun in the world of Remy Chandler

This book was far better than the first. The main reason I say this is that this book made it actually feel like a series. The first book had a clear solid ending, no loose ends. However, this one actually had some loose ends that I'm looking forward to seeing cleared up in the future.

I'd also like to add that Thomas expands the Remy Chandler world even more in this book making it a very rich and pleasant read. Thomas has put so much thought into it that the world seems like it could actually be real.

One final comment, I've been trying to figure out what series this reminds me of besides the Dresden Files, and I finally did: The Percy Jackson Series. You may think it's a stretch but I think that Remy Chandler is to the biblical world as Percy Jackson is to greek mythology.

An all around awesome read!

good but sad

This book was good but a little sad, with the loss of several people. Even though it was sad I would still say give it a try if you liked the first book.

OK but really not the best

I like the Narrator in these books but this Book 2 is not up to the caliber of what I expected. It's worth the time so all the books flow together.

Spoiler Alert -

Although I liked (moderately) the book overall, I was hoping Remy would be quicker on the uptake in his battle against evil. Perhaps this book is setting the stage for a happier resolution in the next volume, but this one left me feeling deflated and sad. Also, I found Remy’s frequent flashbacks confusing. Several times I had to go back and repeat a section to be sure I hadn’t missed a transition in scene only to realize that Remy was woolgathering again. I liked the first volume so much that this one was disappointing. I’m hanging in there for at least one more book to see if it gets back to the thrill of the first book.

another great book

I loved the near constant action of this book. I have definitely fallen in love with Remys dog Marlowe as well as the Remy character himself. The author does a wonderful job with character development

Angels among us!

I read the first book in this series, then when I saw it on Audible, didn't hesitate to purchase. Love the story, unfortunately didn't love Mr. Daniels' narration. Which is such a personal thing. Mr. Daniels interpretation was very spare considering the material. I also had trouble keeping track of various characters in the story as they all tended to sound the same. Not enough of a block to prevent future purchases of this series.. Nice to know even Fallen Angels have the same internal dialogue as the rest of us.

Angelic Noir

Remy Chandler is only outshined by his beloved dog Marley. A great series for all.
