The number-one national best seller for Stephen King's rabid fans, Cujo "hits the jugular" (The New York Times) with the story of a friendly Saint Bernard that is bitten by a sick bat. Get ready to meet the most hideous menace ever to savage the flesh and devour the mind.

Cujo is a 200-pound Saint Bernard, the best friend Brett Camber has ever had. One day Cujo chases a rabbit into a cave inhabited by sick bats. What happens to Cujo, how he becomes a horrifying vortex inescapably drawing in all the people around him, makes for one of the most heart-stopping novels Stephen King has ever written.

"A genuine page-turner that grabs you and holds you and won't let go" (Chattanooga Times), Cujo will forever change how you view man's best friend.

Love this story

An all time classic, a book that grabs you from the first chapter.
However, I do not understand why I keep finding great horror books narrated by a woman who sounds like your aunt.
I remember my grandfather and father telling me scary stories, why am I seeing so many good books ruined by female narrators. this is a masculine driven story written by a man and it should be narrated by a mature male voice like pet semetary was, and so on. Ive passed on 3 or 4 other books because they had female narrators..

Listening to this woman read this story is like listening to a man explain the pains of child birth.. I hope audible starts to think about their customers.

It is more then worth the money, but it could be so much better with a deep grandfather voice narration..

Excellent, one of a kind story.

I read this almost 40 years ago, and I loved it -- and I still like it, just not as much as I remember. I love how King creates realistic and fully fleshed-out characters, because that's really what his best books are about: people, not scary things that go bump in the night. While it's about a rabid dog, it's really about the people who are affected by that dog: the abusive father, the bored housewife, the cuckold husband, the small-town neighbours, the dog's young owner, and the innocent victim of circumstances.

The narration was fine, but not particularly good.

Good, but not as good as I remember

hard to hear the parts where she whispers, without turning it up and being blasted from normal voice

hate the whisper parts

I found this book very entertaining. Lorna Raver's voice of Tad was like nails on a chalkboard to me however. I feel like she overdid the whining to the point where I almost couldn't continue.

Great Story

Fantastic narration by Lorna Raver. This was my first Stephen King, and I loved it. Highly recommended.

Excellent

At times very slow but with creepy/dark scenes and clever metaphors, "CUJO" still stands high as a iconic piece of horror literature. The only real criticism is the pacing because just when cujo descends into madness the story still jumps to much less interesting sub-plots. But the main story is trilling, bloody, and delivers a cruel but satisfying end to the main characters.

Flawed but very dark, creepy, and entertaining

King tells a tale of horror. Of how a mundane day can go so wrong. Wonderfully cringeworthy.

Terror at its finest
