Resumen del Editor

When a Venezuelan admiral attempts an ambitious power grab, America’s elite warriors must stop a disaster of unimaginable scale.

Admiral Juan Valdez is the puppet master behind Venezuela's dictatorship. He has spent years modernizing Venezuela’s military while the poor of his country starved. All the while, Valdez was working toward his grand vision of seizing much of Latin America. Now, Admiral Valdez is convinced that Bolivia, Columbia, and Peru are all well within his grasp. And when the time is right, he will strike.

But the real key to his victory lies to the north. With the recent discovery of massive undersea oil deposits, he must take Cuba. For, oil is money, and money is power.

The crew of the submarine USS Toledo and a handful of SEALs and intelligence operatives have been sent in to protect America’s interests. But with Russia’s best technology at his disposal, Valdez’s elaborate plot puts the Americans right in the line of fire.

Cuban Deep is a high-tension, action-packed tale that sounds like tomorrow’s headlines. It is the third book in The Hunter Killer Series. If you enjoy military thrillers that combine excitement with realism, Wallace and Keith are a must-listen. Highly recommended for fans of Tom Clancy, W.E.B. Griffin, Brad Thor, and Mark Greaney.

"This team spins a great tale." (W.E.B. Griffin, NY Times best-selling author)

A disappointing series of wtf moments.

When I read the description of the book, I had expected a well researched and high stakes book. Overall the setting and concept is great, and there was a good chance to take advantage of the Venezuelan Admiral taking over the country and fighting a war against the United States or Cuba to assert its control over the Cuban Deep deposits; but that didn’t happen.
Several times while listening to this book there were “wtf” or what the F*** moments I had where I had to pause and just try to understand what Idiotic thing I had just heard.
You can’t reconfigure a sonar to sound like a whale moaning in the ocean to detect a box you somehow had installed on just the exact submarine that would be patrolling this particular spot of the ocean, why introduce a character and build them up so much just to kill them in the very next chapter like there was no plan for them. Like what happened to the Cuban spymaster, that was never addressed in the book after he was sent to Gitmo. There were tons of idiotic things in this book, petty things like turning a P-3 Orion MPA hard to make sure a coffee spills on one of the buoy operators just because he had some smart comments, that shit would not fly in a military. There is virtually no discipline in this book and all the characters feel like they are written out to be abject morons who can’t make serious critical decisions. There is also so much time taken up by actions that would be so carelessly thrown out of other books cause they have no actual bearing on the story other than to pan out the books length; like do we seriously need an entire scene written out of a submarine making port with turns and tugboat calls and all that? The book is incredibly dry and downright boring, using movie tropes to hang strings of events together in such a bullshit way that it just makes you go wtf if you know anything about modern navies. If I could give this book 0 stars I would, do not recommend you are not missing anything by not listening to this.
Furthermore; I recommend you go read SSN or Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy if you want an actual story about submarines and naval warfare.

OK’ish

The story I though was good,
But the ending died.. I would have liked a more detail closure.
