Resumen del Editor

Deep in the Amazon jungle, a world beyond imagination.

In the dense and dangerous Amazon, the crew of the supernatural reality series Cryptid Quest makes a stunning discovery: a Bronze Age fortress of Mayan design, hidden by impenetrable jungle and far from where it should be. But that’s not all. They also find tantalizing evidence of Egyptian and Greek influence - an impossible collision of ancient cultures that leaves them baffled. Then, without warning, they disappear without a trace.

Determined to find out what happened, John Decker travels to South America. Arriving in the humid Amazonian jungle, he joins a team of specialists pulled together from all corners of the globe, including a ghost from his past - an old flame he thought was out of his life forever.

But this is the least of Decker’s worries, because when the group treks deep into the overgrown and unexplored jungle, they find themselves trapped in a forgotten land where death lurks around every corner, and the nightmares of the ancient world live on. Cut off from civilization and under siege, they must solve the riddle of the ancient ruins and find a way out, or die trying...

This is book eight in the John Decker series, but it can be listened to as a stand-alone novel.

If you are a fan of James Rollins, Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child, and Clive Cussler, you will love the John Decker series.

A different sort of John Decker story

This volume of the John Decker series takes us to lost world-like area in the Amazon jungle. But don't expect the usual dinosaurs here. Here we find creatures from ancient mythology.

The crew of a cable cryptid chasing show have found this place and promptly needed rescuing. CUSP answers that call. Decker and Tory are dispatched to take care of things. So far, pretty normal for this series. Then things shift a bit. A hit squad shows up gunning for them. Who and why become the driving force through the remainder of the book. Yes, we have weird creatures, daring do, romantic entanglements, and a bit of humor.

This feels like the author setting up a new playing field for higher stakes in the coming books. Okay, I'm game.

Recommended.

Starting to get repetitive.

Mr. Malaki needs to take some voice acting lessons. While he has a very pleasant sounding voice, he is wooden and monotone which made listening a trial. His female voice is awful although he does try his best. The author would be better off hiring a female voice actor for the women. Also, Mr. Malaki's voice makes Decker come across as arrogant, pushy and blunt which made me start to dislike Decker. The book is about another monster Decker has to kill. I know the series is about Decker killing monsters, but it is getting repetitive and boring. Perhaps a better voice actor would make the books more interesting.

Is this recording a joke?

Sophomoric dialog, unbelievable oversights by characters, and absolutely ridiculous narration. The narrators voice is harsh and metered. The main character sounds like a radio dj and is complete with the nerdy, always-complaining sidekick. Throw in the over-the-top bitchy, nasally ex, tons of ridiculous character decisions, and completely unlikeable characters…and I can’t finish this stupid book. How is this a series?!?!?
