Acerca de esta escucha
Did you know that 93 percent of CEOs agree that this skill is more important than your college degree?
Amazon's market cap is 1.7 trillion dollars. And it all started when Jeff Bezos used this skill to see a market inefficiency back in the day, before anyone else.
During the 1980s "Coke Wars", Coca-Cola and Pepsi went back and forth competing to be America's top soda. But Coca-Cola didn't use this skill at the right time...And their mistake almost completely blew up one of America's oldest and most valuable companies.
Having this skill in your back pocket is like shortcutting Malcom Gladwell's 10,000 hours rule to learning something (who's got time for that?).
So, what is it?
Nothing complex or fancy.
But it's the skill supreme court justices have in spades (they're the highest legal authority in our country because they can do this thing).
It's critical thinking.
Critical thinking is one of those skills everyone "thinks" that they already have...
But most people are anxious, unhappy, doubt their decisions, and aren't where they want to be in life.
Sometimes, basic skills aren't so basic.
But it's not your fault. Our educational system doesn't teach critical thinking. You can only learn it from the right kind of experiences - and most people never do.
In 2011, a study called "It Takes More Than a Major: Employer Priorities for College Learning and Student Success" found that 93 percent of business leaders agreed "a demonstrated capacity to think critically, communicate clearly, and solve complex problems is more important than [a candidate's] undergraduate major".
So, if you feel like you don't have the right diploma or the right skill set to succeed at what you do, don't worry.
But if you thought your degree would get you everything you've wanted out of life, you're going to be disappointed.
Remember when people thought the Earth was flat? It took a critical thinker to disprove that.
The ancient Chinese general Sun Tzu said, "know your opponent and know yourself; in a hundred battles, you will never be in peril".
You (probably) won't be leading an army into war, but the ability to think clearly will help you keep confident no matter what life throws at you.
Here's just a fraction of what you'll discover:
- The critical thinking framework developed by two of the most experienced critical thinking scientists of all time - and how to make it your own
- The reason VHS became a household name and Betamax became a household joke (Ever heard of Betamax? No? There's a reason for that)
- How to shortcut the famous Malcom Gladwell "10,000 Hours Rule" to become an expert critical thinker, fast
- The 7 qualities of a critical thinker - how many do you have right now?
- What a WW2 pilot and the people of Romania can teach you about critical thinking - this is the key to not making huge mistakes
- How to identify fake news and misinformation - learn this, and you'll have a massive leg up on almost everyone around you right now
- Actionable, easy exercises to drill home every point covered in the novel. You won't "listen to and forget" this audiobook
- And much, much more!
This isn't a dry, theoretical audiobook - this audiobook is dedicated to imparting to you the maxims of how to think critically, as fast and effectively as possible.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Why do employers judge candidates on the first impression they make, even though they know it’s wrong and often misleading? Why do people smoke, drink to excess, and eat things they know are bad for them? How do normally intelligent people wind up believing fake news stories? To find out, let’s take a trip back in time to Victorian England. A famous story from the Victorian days is that women had to wear corsets. It’s debated how commonplace corsets actually were, but they squeezed a woman’s body like a snake - making the waist look smaller.

Modern work life is a maze, but you can find a shortcut through it. We are spending longer hours at work, although we desire more work-life balance. According to the World Population Review, the 10 countries with the longest workweeks averaged 42.2 hours. Given how much time you spend at work, wouldn’t it be better if you could be more efficient at your job? The Harvard Business Review says that workers spend as much as 41 percent of the average workday on tasks that don’t add value. Modern work poses its challenges.

Many of us dread having to convey our ideas to others, often feeling ill-equipped, anxious, and awkward. Public speaking experts help by focusing on planned communication experiences such as slide presentations, pitches, or formal talks. Yet, most of our professional and personal communication occurs in spontaneous situations that creep up on us and all too often leave us flustered and stumbling for words. Stanford lecturer, podcast host, and communication expert Matt Abrahams provides tangible, actionable skills to help even the most anxious of speakers succeed when speaking spontaneously.

You might believe you’re thinking clearly in the moments that matter most. But in all likelihood, when the pressure is on, you won’t be thinking at all. And your subsequent actions will inevitably move you further from the results you ultimately seek—love, belonging, success, wealth, victory. According to Farnam Street founder Shane Parrish, we must get better at recognizing these opportunities for what they are, and deploying our cognitive ability in order to achieve the life we want.

Well-Researched & Solid Foundation of Knowledge
Critical Thinking in a Nutshell is an absolute gem for anyone looking to improve their critical thinking skills. The narrator's delivery is impeccable, capturing the essence of each concept with clarity and enthusiasm. The content is well-researched and provides a solid foundation of knowledge. The inclusion of critical thinking exercises at the end of each chapter is a brilliant addition, allowing listeners to apply what they've learned. The only drawback I found was that the pace of the narration felt a bit rushed at times.

Life changing
All my life I have been trying to develop my own method of critical thinking without realizing it. I come up with ideas for improving things all the time but that caused me to be feared, hated, and used by people. It is nice to know there is nothing wrong with me and there is a name for what I have been doing. Great introductory book and I am off to find more books on critical thinking!

Well done
As critical thinking has become a trend lately, I couldn't help looking into it with a critical eye. Hundreds of books, podcasts, blog posts, and newsletters promise to teach you how to think for yourself, grow wiser and make the right decisions in everything you do. This book is one of those that keep the promises made in the title and its summary.
The explanations in this book are simple and straightforward, the examples are illustrative and very interesting (Trivia-like!). Listening to the audio version gave me a clear understanding of the concepts and got me very interested in getting the print version, so I can follow the action steps prescribed at the end of each chapter.
Congratulations to the author and the narrator for turning the topics of logic and critical thinking into a nice audiobook!
