Resumen del Editor

Join two beloved spiritual luminaries for a conversation full of kinship, laughter, and joyful truths

What do a Jesuit priest and a Buddhist nun have in common? It may sound like the opening to a joke, but it’s actually the question that initiated an extraordinary spiritual collaboration.

Father Greg Boyle and Pema Chödrön came together in a night of interfaith conversation for a great cause: aiding Homeboy Industries, the world’s largest rehabilitation, re-entry, and job training program for former gang members. Originally founded by Father Greg in 1992, Homeboy Industries has helped thousands of people find renewed hope after leaving gang life.

Now, Father Greg and Pema present Creating a Culture of Tenderness, an audio program devoted to what it means to embody one’s principles in the world. Co-teaching for the first time, here they offer an inspiring dialogue on recognizing each other’s innate humanity, the power of second chances, the profound connections between the world’s faiths, and how in service to others we can discover the most vital spiritual truths.

Such a gift

Listen with an open heart and mind. We have to sit with curiosity to see the humaneness in each other. I so appreciated this conversation!

Humor Connects

Listening to the banter between Greg, Pema and the moderator was entertaining. In between laughter, I happily gleaned some helpful nuggets.

I like supporting Sounds True and this broadcast is also accessible on YouTube.

Pema yet another beautiful soul to inspire us

So so pleased to be introduced to a kindred spirit to father Greg. A blessing

Insightful! Thought provoking!

What a fun and lighthearted way to explore some deeper controversial topics on spirituality and politics. Not what I expected but definitely worth every minute!

Big fan of both

This performance did not disappoint. I will listen over and over. There’s so much room for growth and learning, and these two are examples I aspire to follow.

Misleading title and description

The talk did not deliver on what was promised in the title and description BUT the talk was still very good, I really enjoyed hearing Pema Chodron and Father Greg Boyle's perspectives on various issues.

Wonderful listen

I love anything by Father Greg Boyle and listening to the stories from Homeboy Industries. I always hear lovely things about Pema Chodron and adore her quotes. Definitely have to read her books now.

Loved it...

Oh my goodness. What a "raw" and " authentic" dialogue. Amazing materials for reflection.. Buy, and enjoy.

Uncomfortable and slightly confrontational

first, this is nothing new. Fr. Boyle repeats the same several lines as always. second, it is very short and not really worth an entire credit. it is probably on youtube, somewhere.

finally, Pema Chodron clearly has many devotees, as evidenced by the question/answers at the end. However, in this exchange she was confrontational about FATHER boyles repeated reference to god. really? he is a priest. did she think he wouldnt ultimately reference god? she was actually antagonistic about the whole topic early in the exchange. this permeated the remainder of the interview and was uncomfortable.
