Narrator still bad

The narrator hasn't improved any since the last book. When voicing Gus, she makes him sound like an asthmatic smoker, with a weird raspy voice. He's a computer nerd and a sweet guy, not exactly the voice I'd have chosen. And every time she said 'antidote' I cringed. She pronounces it as 'aneedote'. I know the narrator is Australian, which is why I think she pronounces things weird, but I don't think anyone in any country says the word like that. Unless you're three.

Narrator deserves punishment for injustice here

The books are great but the narrator is terrible. At times she can be okay, Eliza mercer is the best one because she doesn't try too hard with her. Gus is just terrible and one of the girl voices from the pre-evo camp is downright comical. The main character is bad overall but there are certain words she says that sound so ridiculous, particularly the words anything and everything. She randomly adds a southern twang to it when the rest of the narrating for Maggie doesn't have that. Then there's a Brooklyn accent she slips in here and there. Overall I can't believe someone allowed this to be recorded and they didn't fire her after the first two sentences of the first book, there must have been some sort of blood debt owed to get her this gig. That being said despite the awful and I mean awful narration, this book is really good. Plot lines were a bit predictable but I haven't found a book that isn't yet. Anyways it's worth it if you can find it in yourself to push through the pain of the narrators voice.

Fantastic Book, Mediocre Narrator

What did you love best about Corruption?

The storyline was compelling. The characterization was also fantastic. Jessica Shirvington does a fantastic job capturing Maggie's emotions, transforming her from a shut-off vigilante eager to save her father into a heroine worthy of deep love and respect.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved several characters, including Maggie and Quentin. While Maggie is very rough around the edges, she's quite vulnerable and fascinating to follow. I also enjoyed watching Quentin's rise from spoiled rich kid to a hero in his own right.

How could the performance have been better?

Hannah Morris tries, she really does. Unfortunately, she hasn't quite kicked the Australian accent. She also ends many of her sentences in a question. This is very disorienting, because Maggie most certainly isn't a questioning character. She's a point-blank, this-is-how-it's-gonna-be character. By ending her sentences with a question, Morris detracts from Maggie's characterization. Further, Morris often lapses into a monotone, and many of her characters sound exactly the same. I'm not sure why Quentin's kick ass mother sounds so darn sweet, or why Morris can't at least attempt a deeper voice for the guys.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

They thought they'd won ... she proved them wrong.
