The universe is a big place.

In the centuries since its expansion beyond the outer reaches of the Core Sol System, humanity has proven itself to be persistent enough to not only survive in space, but to thrive. Hundreds of worlds, planetoids, and stations have been established as the new frontier for mankind, with some colonizers going into stasis for years, eagerly awaiting arrival at their new homes among the stars.

With that expansion, and the astronomical distances needed to reach the new frontier, comes the need for rescue. Navigation errors, mechanical failures, marauding pirates, unexplainable cosmic phenomena, and more. These are the forces that threaten to leave spacefarers stranded, hundreds of light years from home, with little more to do than sit and wait, hoping to be discovered before their air runs out.

Containment follows the crew of a rescue and recovery vessel, traveling their sector of the mid-rim as they attempt to locate and rescue any and all lost ships and souls. It’s during this seemingly-mundane deployment that the men aboard the recovery ship learn just how big the universe is, and that there are dangerous things that inhabit the expanse.

Containment is the second novel in Zach James’ ever-expanding Hostile Universe series. Blending equal parts snappy dialogue, hard-hitting action, and deep-set horror that aims to not only keep the listener listening, but doing so at the edge of their seat.

Just wow!

I am a sci-Fi book snob. Most importantly a book snob over the “Aliens” novels.

This two book series…was so well written. It could have been a branch off of one of Weyland Yutanis misadventures to find the “perfect organism”. The monsters were amazing, akin to the alien creatures from “the thing”. Book two was just epic man…lol good job. I was in literal suspense for most of this book. And, being a veteran and former cop, now author myself, this book really got my hackles up here and there with the character dynamics.

Lastly, why did you have to kill off all of these characters that I had such emotional energy put into lol? Especially my man Russo and Cody…what a shame. I had a career in small unit stuff, this book series really hit home with me.

This is a 5 star recommendation.

Im loving "The Hostile Universe"!!!

I bought this audio book because book 1 kept me interested and boy did this meet my expectations. Only downside is there were certain characters in the book that were just malicious or annoying just to be annoying but overall listening to this was great. Honestly can't wait for Book 3.

Great

Starts a little slow. But picks up pace quickly after a bit. Worth a listen and great story.

Unexpected, but appreciated.

I thought Occupant was a standalone story, I'm glad to find it continued here. As much as I want to advocate for several aspects of the story, I don't think I can without spoiling too much. Just trust that if you enjoyed Occupant, you'll enjoy Containment.

Better than the first!

A lot more character and world building in the second book and better in every way imo. If your a vet, you'll feel at home with James's writing.
