The Last Writing Book to Read

It doesn’t cover the fundamentals, ie inciting incident, protagonists defined, three act structure, etc. It’s very advanced, but it’s a great read and most certainly rewards being familiar with Chuck’s bibliography. It’s a must for any Palahniuk reader.

Excellent Ideas!

I have never read any of the Author's books. I will now. Not because I judge his writing from this Audible book, buy I do want to see his advice in practice...and I want to try not to faint while reading Guts.

I don't care if you write, you should still listen

I love when writers narrate their own books, it feels so natural. Is very good.

Intensely Interesting

A collection of tips for aspiring writers told alongside gripping tales from Chuck Palahniuk's life that serve to punctuate his points while also showcasing where some of his inspiration for various stories originated. The book includes some wholly original pieces of advice for authors, which I greatly appreciated and highly recommend.

Well worth the price of admission!

I wish I could thoughtfully tell you why I enjoyed this book so much. It's like a conversation with someone, sitting there, shootin-the-shit with Chuck. But alas, it is mine and I don't want to share!

Reminded me why Chuck is one of my favorites

In one of his other books, Palahniuk mentions how one can craft a sentence that makes you laugh and then break your heart right after. He's my favorite at that kinda writing. I'm gonna check out some of the writers from this mythical group and see if I find more good stuff. The narration was right on for the whole book.

It was fine until the typical voice over guy shows up

I was able to listen to it, but I’m annoyed at the very predictable sound of the narrator. Chuck Palahniuk was there in the beginning, but I wished he read the rest of it. I know these guys are professional voice over guys and all that, but Chuck’s voice (vision) is very unique and raw and the voice in this audio book should reflect that a little. Radio voices and voices like this narrator are so played out. It’s like those English voice over guys narrating A Christmas Carol or something. Flat and inhuman. Might as well be a robot like Siri. The age of audio books with those guys and gals are over. We want real. Enough of the fake. Publishers please stop.
