Resumen del Editor

In Locked In, San Francisco private eye Sharon McCone was shot in the head and suffered from locked-in syndrome: almost total paralysis but with an alert, conscious mind. Now, as Sharon struggles to regain control over her body, she realizes that it may not be possible to return to her old life. But when Sharon's friend from physical therapy goes missing, she must call upon those closest to her to find out the truth behind the disappearance. The investigation soon points to issues of national security and proves to be the most dangerous and critical case yet for Sharon and her colleagues.

Eight Hours Was Not Enough

When I was 6 years old, my mother bought me a Nancy Drew Mystery Story. I was MIA until I finished it - in about three hours of steady reading. Like gobbling up an ice cream cone in two bites. It was the start of a lifelong addiction to reading. I can't imagine what I would have done if Audible had been around in those days with excellent readers like Deanna Hurst. I probably would not have eaten or slept. I would not have gone to school. I would have been absorbed into books, non-stop. They would have had to send me to a book detox center. Well, years later there is no more Nancy Drew or Beverly Grey but now there's Marcia Muller and her alter ego Sharon McCone. Not only have I read the entire series up to and including Locked In and Coming Back, I am sitting here waiting for Ms. Muller to write her next book and hoping it will be soon because I am having definite withdrawal symptoms. Her well balanced characters, her courage to allow Sharon to hire people who have, in traditional literature, been shunned or stereotyped and her excellent, complicated plots that take twists and turns without becoming either boring or illogical is what keeps me listening. The only complaint - hey, I want the books to be longer. Well, you can't have everything. Read it, you'll love it.

Writing good, narrator not good on main character

I always have liked the Sharon McCone stories--but the narrator sounded so dull and like she was sleep-walking when doing Sharon. Hurst was pretty good with every other character. Other than that, it was a good story and I did not guess the end.

look up words you don't know

this performance was almost impossible to get through. If people don't know a word they need to look up the pronunciation. Ada is pronounced ay-duh. Not ah-duh. Because Ada figures so prominently in this story I had to suffer mispronunciations every minute. it was difficult to relate to the character when her name was not used. And of course the usual mispronunciations like rifling or rifled. Proper pronunciation is with a long "i" sound. Sheesh, you are getting paid for this, do it right.

Interesting focus

Where does Coming Back rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

Coming Back was not the book I thought it would be, although it did tell the story.
I thought there were too many characters, too much jumping around. Perhaps this series is done?
