As the children grow into adolescence, two are caught in an impulsive act of impropriety, and Celia and Lucy find themselves at irreconcilable odds over who’s to blame. The ensuing fallout has dire consequences that reverberate through the next two generations of their families.

Rich in history

This author just became one of my favorite authors. I really enjoyed and would recommend this book.

Family

I love reading about the Coleman family and their decedent's.Their stories are a part of so many black families. Very well written.

Era

Too dark, the on and on depression in this family was sad. I would not recommend it.
