Acerca de esta escucha

Chef Wyatt Blake is finally ready to move on from his thankless job. He gets no wiggle room, zero praise, plenty of abuse, and on a good day, he might only spend 12 hours in the Terroir kitchens.

A friend of his recommends a private chef position, but despite the boost in pay, Wyatt doesn’t want to babysit some spoiled, rich LA family. Imagine his shock when the family isn't a Kardashian clone but Ryan Flores, the only professional baseball player to ever come out of the closet.

Ryan is also at a career crossroads. His team’s management wants to see his more responsible side, which means no more late-night hookups and no more adrenaline-charged stunts. When his agent suggests he find a fake boyfriend to give him an air of domesticity, he’s only reluctantly interested. Until, Ryan goes to a local bar and spies the cute private chef he’s supposed to be interviewing the next day.

Maybe a quieter life wouldn’t be so bad, as long as Wyatt is part of it?

Wyatt believes Ryan could be more than just a crappy boss, but he isn't sure about leaving the kitchen for the life of a professional boyfriend. Especially when he wants the reality so much more than the fantasy.

Catch Me is a contemporary gay romance, and while it is the second book in the Kitchen Gods series, it can be listened to as a stand-alone.

Lo que los oyentes dicen sobre Catch Me

Con calificación alta para:

The Story Revolves Around The Fake Boyfriend Trope, Following The Romance Between Wyatt, A Chef, And Ryan, A Professional Baseball Player. While The Premise Is Engaging And The Characters Are Likable, Some Readers Found The Excessive Descriptions, Drama, And Lack Of Communication Between The Protagonists To Be Repetitive And Frustrating. However, The Story Also Incorporates Humorous Elements, Explores Themes Of Family, Friendship, Self-discovery, And Overcoming Personal Fears And Insecurities. Overall, It's A Fun And Enjoyable Romance, Though Some Readers Felt It Had Too Much Angst For Their Liking.

great!

I'm usually not a fan of the fake relationship trope but I liked how it was done in this book. Wonderful story! I'm looking forward to read the next book in the series. And the narrator was absolutely brilliant!

A great audio to lose yourself in.

Okay-I’m new to the Kitchen Gods series, but holy wow! Bolden has caught my attention with this series and this book is very engaging. I found myself absorbed in the dynamics and plot and even felt some strong emotions. Baker’s vocal talents show a great depth and bring these characters to life. Not one to be missed.

I’m definitely caught!

I loved this story! A little bit of fake boyfriend action except their feelings are too real even before they try to be fake. The characters were both complex and it made them so loveable. I just wanted to take them home and save them. Narration by Wyatt Baker was excellent as usual.

Enjoyable

Enjoyed the audio of Catch me By Beth Bolden! I liked the story a lot though it isn't my favorite of the bunch. Ryan just falls a little flat as a character for me...these books do continue to get better and better though so I do recommend this one! Wyatt Baker does a nice job narrating this.

The Chef & The Baseball Player!

A great fake to real relationship. I truly enjoyed the storyline from beginning to end and it’s a wonderful addition to the series. Wyatt and Ryan are spectacular together. They may start out pretending in order to help repair Ryan’s image, but they turn into so much more. I love watching their true relationship develop. They really make a great pair and I especially like that they take time to get to know each other. I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out in audio. The narrator does a spectacular job with the story and the characters. He truly pulls you right in. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audiobook.

Faking it

With both Wyatt and Ryan at bit of a crossroads in their lives, they both need to make changes.
Wyatt for a better future and Ryan for job security.
When they embark on a world wind fake relationship together, feelings were bound to get involved.
The story is engaging, with good characters, nice humor and very little angst.

The narration was just okay for me. It was a bit flat at times and then picked up. A bit of a seesaw.
Overall, I did enjoy listening to this.

Not bad.

Okay, I had a hard time getting into the story because the setting was... not very credible. And this was said by someone who loves the fake-relationship trope.

I liked the style of the writer, and her characters were well delineated, although the story slides to melodrama by the end. Nevertheless, it's entertained and, by moments, very sweet.

Wyatt Baker does a good job narrating.

*sigh* Disappointing

Ryan Flores needs a fake boyfriend, and the one he wants is Wyatt Blake. Each man agreed to that, after a long time denying their desire for each other and an almost contract with an actor to fill the role was happily aborted. However, they still took forever to pull their heads out of their behinds and admit that they wanted to be boyfriends for real because they each were developing feelings for each other. I found that whole song and dance frustrating and irritating. I appreciate the writer wanting to make this a real relationship by not rushing them into anything committed too soon, but I felt as though all the extras, such as the extended conversations between Wyatt and Ryan and various secondary characters, or the endless descriptions of their inner fears and concerns began to be repetitious. That they kept trying to pretend that their feelings still remained the same as they had been in the beginning, trying to convince themselves that things were far less serious than they were, was teeth-grindingly painful after a while. And their talking themselves out of telling each other that they were falling in love also got old.

The performance was okay, despite a few flubs, though it certainly didn't help to make these irritating narrative practices feel any better. And by the way, how old ARE these guys? If Wyatt's mom dies eight years before when he was thirteen, that makes him twenty-one, but he doesn't seem THAT young, and there's no indication of how old Ryan is. And after the accident at the end which, by the way, was overkill in the drama part of this story -- eye-roll-worthy overkill -- I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan is no older than twenty-one himself. Maybe if I knew how old they are my impatience with their behavior would dissipate, or at least I'd understand it.
