Acerca de esta escucha

Finally in Krogga, Gregory found himself pulled into the solstice tournament to celebrate Krog. Invited by both the high priest and Council of Krogheim, Gregory and Jenn did their best to show that some magi had honor. While both of them lost to Ragnar Ivarson, the youngest High Champion in Krogga, that’d only set the stage for what the next year was going to be.

The weeks after the tournament were a whirlwind of ambassadorial visits and discussions, but eventually, a key meeting took place when Ragnar brought his sister, Verka, to visit the family. Having three reborn gods in the same room required some secrecy so they could even attempt to have a conversation, but they managed it.

Finding both Krog and Vera reborn was shocking to Gregory and his wives, but they accepted it. Verka didn’t balk at having to complete the steps to marry into the family, either, even if it would be years before they could wed…or so they all thought.

Ragnar’s raid into the empire saw the city of Bloodrock become part of Krogga once again. That short war changed many lives; the most notable was General Ruzi, who, for the first time, lost a war that he’d been leading. The winner would be decided with an agreed-upon set of honor duels to end the stalemate it had become— following the empire’s loss, Ragnar invoked the clause he’d added to name Gregory as the one to marry Verka.

Returning to the embassy, Gregory and his family knew that life was going to get busy before the solstice. They would have to attend their duties as assistant ambassadors, plus more. What they were really looking forward to was when Verka officially joined the family as a wife near the solstice.

None of them knew what machinations had been put into play by others. Their lives had a lot of joy coming soon, but there was also hardship and pain hiding just out of sight…they’d be tested to overcome something they never expected.

This series is great. I’m not talking a little great. I’m talking great great. Not only that this book had the best ending of any in the series so far. Can’t wait for the next book.

The best ending of any book in the series so far

This sequel really moved the story to the next level and leaves behind the '...and it happened at high school.' feel of a number of previous books. Intense and interesting action scenes, actions with consequences, and the continuation of a fantastic if non-standard love story. Loved it!

The sequel steps up!

This is book 10 you should know what’s happening from the first 9 Gregory gets a new wife shocking I know, but machinations are coming to fruition in this book the title says it all. I read the written copy but the audio comes more alive it’s a great listen

Another great book for the series

Look i love love love Daniels books and stories. But this entire book could have been a dozen chapters and ended in the same place without any complaints. So much of it was spent on exposition between the main group and small moments. Thats ok in the first 4 or 5 books. But eventually we need to move this plot forward. I dont want him to instantly end it but this entire thing was just a daily journal with 2 interesting moments. The rest is character growth of already set norms and types of conversations. I get were on book 10 but he is doing the opposite of what he did with Morigans Bidding series. That one he just rocketed to the finish and to be honest i wasnt too upset about. But felt abrupt like he had more to do elsewhere. This one reads like he wants to keep it going to a specific number before he ends and has run out of story so he padded it with about 70% filler. Dont get me wrong, it was not terrible at all. But its a slog when the title of the books is a bout a specific thing and then you come to find out the specific thing happens in the final 10% of the book basically.

a very long build up to a 2 chapter event
