Resumen del Editor

“I believe one of the biggest crimes you can commit is to break your code.” - Danny

Danny joined the Marines in 1967 and saw some of the worst fighting of the Vietnam War. Continually bombarded by the enemy, never knowing if he would live or die, each day was kill or be killed. Then his best friend and fellow Marine was injured by a mine and he was unable to save him. He was forced to listen to his friend’s cries for help until he died. Danny became angry, depressed, and numb. The only thing that made him feel alive again was killing. He came home from the war with a bad case of PTSD and couldn’t adapt to normal life.

To feed his need for killing, he became a hitman for a biker gang. Danny developed his own “Samurai Code”. He admired the way of the Samurai. As long as he followed his personal code, he could justify the murders.

Then one day he broke his code...and it broke him.

Based on real events, this is Danny’s story. It also contains psychological insight by Dr. Carlisle.

Warning: This book does not have graphic content, but some of the depictions of war have triggered PTSD in a small number of listeners.

Narrator is Awful

The narrator focuses so much on doing bad voices that he doesn't bother to make sure that he reads the right words. And he didn't even bother to edit his mistakes for nearly ten chapters! So he keeps stopping mid-sentence to start over, and I can't keep track of what's going on. The story would be amazing with a decent narrator.

Know what you're getting

Interesting story but it seems there was no editing. This feels like it was recorded and released mistakes and all. The narrator did a good job but I had to give a chuckle in chapter 4 when "godd**nit" was muttered after a few attempts at a line.

Narration is a little off rails

I am unsure if the unedited delivery of the narration was intended? It's distracting at times. At first I thought I was having streaming issues, but no, the narrator is simply restating or correcting the script and sticking to it like an absolute champion.

At one point in the first 5 chapters they are having a real issue delivering a line, and you can audibly hear them take a breath and whisper "goddamnit" to themselves. It was a great humanizing moment however, so now I really don't have complaints, they bare it all on this read :)

Content wise, this account is uniquely deep, and an accurate portrayal of how combat ptsd shaped an impressionable mind at a crucial time during their mental maturation. It's sad, humbling, and important.

B+

Glitchy Please Fix The Narration!!

I really wanted to finish this book but I just couldn’t take it anymore. I thought it was my app or download that was glitching. I tried all the normal steps to fix glitching but nothing worked. After a while I realized It was horrible editing because the narrator was changing voice inflection and pronunciation of words on each glitch.
