This was a very interesting take on the student-professor age gap. Sheilagh and Alec meet in the philosophy class he teaches and the material is a heavy theme throughout the story.

It’s a steamy read and they have a lot of great chemistry in most aspects of their relationship. I enjoyed seeing them fight for their happily ever after.

It did take me a while to get into this book. It’s technically a standalone but there’s a lot of complex family dynamics and drama related to the other books in the series.

Lucinda Gainey did a good job with this dual point of view story.

Thank you to Valentine PR and the author for the chance to listen to this story in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so good. I loved pretty much everything about it. It was a well done age gap. As always, the author did a great job tackling some heavier topics. The narrator was fantastic and did a great accent for the hero. I can’t wait for more!

Favorite McCullough so far!

Ok.. every McCullough mountain I keep saying I might like better than the prior book…. But the truth is.. they are all excellent. Each sibling book deals with real life issues. It hilifgts the fact that there. Am be problems for you even if toucans raised with the best life.

Shayla has spent 6 years letting a secret derail her life…. When her brothers force her to go to college… she gets the chance to branch out. She is so used to things the way they have been that she’s frustrated.

Her journey includes a lot of self reflection and realizations.. and I’m not going to share them. Suffice it to say it’s excellently written and easily read.. and her realizations just might make you think about your own life and choices…. It’s well worth the read! Period.

Each one is as good as the next! Lydia Michael’s is a master.

I've enjoyed this entire series but this is my new favorite! I enjoyed their entire relationship and finding themselves. Helps to read in order to know the backstory, but can be standalone.

Sheilagh and Alec’s age gap, student/professor love story was an enjoyable read. Their connection was really good from the beginning and they had great chemistry. I enjoyed watching them grown individually and as a couple. I really enjoyed the McCullough clan and all their hilarious shenanigans.

I am loving this McCullough Mountain series, the characters and storylines are amazing, as is the family dynamics and camaraderie amongst them. Lydia Michaels is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style and ability to draw her readers into the stories she creates. And making it even more special is how realistic the characters are and how easy they are to relate to and connect with. The books in this series are written to stand on their own, each one features a different McCullough sibling, while some family members appear in each other’s books as secondary characters, everything you need to know about them is in the descriptive details, each book is as wonderful as the other and I highly recommend them all. Ms. Michaels created something special with this series, the emotions pour off the pages and into your heart and tub on your heartstrings the entire time. Sheilagh McCullough has a brilliant mind, it is both a blessing and a curse at the same time. She planned on attending college after HS, but after seeing something she was not supposed to, it crushed her and sent her into a tailspin, causing her to act out whenever she could. She never went to college, stayed home instead, but when her brothers finally had enough of her wildness and terrible life choices, they gave her an ultimatum, she needed to go to college like she had originally planned. She went and took a full course load, but when her philosophy professor challenges her, she wants to throw in the towel. Dr. Alec Devereux wants to get the most out of his students and he sees something in Sheilagh, not just her smarts but that she is not applying herself as much as she could and that she is hiding who she really is. And she may have given up on “Plato’s Republic” he still did not give up on her. It was great to watch these two not only fall in love but to challenge each other. It was also great to watch Sheilagh come into her own once she recognized what was holding her back, herself. This beautifully plotted story has the perfect balance of drama, heartfelt emotions, some great dialogue and steamy romance. As always, I loved the McCullough’s shenanigans and watching Sheilagh get some payback. Lydia Michaels, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Lucinda Gainey is a talented narrator and a versatile voice artist. She continues to do an amazing job, bringing these characters to life, humanizing them and giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow and tell who is who. She has a complete understanding of the characters she is portraying and I love how she takes each role and makes it her own, sounding believable in every role she plays. She played Sheilagh’s role with perfection, grasping every side of her personality and her Alec was amazing too, accent and all. You could hear how much heart she puts into her work as she captures all the character’s emotions and projects them into her performance, having you feel every single one. Lucinda Gainey is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

Beautifully Captivating & Heartfelt! Great 🎧 📚🎧

I really enjoyed this story and these characters, even when it was kind of sad and depressing. It certainly makes you want to read the next one in the series, if the mention of those two in earlier books hasn't already.

I really liked the progression of this one and how things ended up working out. I was laughing so hard during the end where they're getting revenge on her brothers. It was nice to see her grow to that point and I'm glad we were given that last little bit because it was really the cherry on top.

Lucinda Gainey did a wonderful job, like always! I honestly think I could listen to her narrate just about anything and be satisfied at the end of it. Highly suggest giving this one a go!

I can't get enough of the McCulloughs. They're as lovable as they are crazy, and you can bet that more than a few drinks will be tossed back when this bunch gets together. Given everything I've learned about this family so far, it shouldn't have come as a surprise to see the fiery Sheilagh fall head over heels for the calm, rather soft-spoken professor. A professor who just happens to be British, complete with a sexy accent.
Age-gap and opposites attract are two of my favorite romance tropes. Add in another couple of high on my list tropes with the small town and family saga, and I was pretty much guaranteed to love this one. It doesn't hurt that I'm 4 books into the series, so the characters are like old friends at this point, and I'm thoroughly invested.
Alec and Sheilagh are so easy to root for. They have terrific chemistry, and even though they are opposites, these two fit perfectly. They even kind of make sense once you get to know them both. Alec is a professor, and Sheilagh's a student, so you know there's going to be some angst. Plus, her past causes some problems that need to be dealt with. What I liked most about those bumps in the road is that no matter how much distance was between them, no matter how angry one or the other might be, the love is still strong, and it comes through. Even when one of them has to fight for it, you just know these two can make it work.
Lucinda Gainey gives voice to the characters, and she proves herself very adept at various accents. From an Irish brogue to a well-educated English accent, this narrator has it covered. She also captures all the feels. Whether the McCulloughs are being completely crazy or our romantic couple is dealing with one of those bumps in the road, Lucinda Gainey is on top of it.
To sum it up, British Professor is another must-read in a fantastic series. Lydia Michaels has me hooked on this family and their mountain with her storytelling, and Lucinda Gainey gives another great performance.

The chemistry between Sheila and Alec was instant and intense, and when Sheila went off over the comments left on her paper, I knew I would love this crazy ride with the McCullough family. I laughed out loud several times and may have wanted to knock some sense into a McCullough or two. When this family learns their twenty-four-year-old daughter/sister is dating a forty-year-old, you know the intense glares, interrogation, and even a shotgun-wielding McCullough are bound to happen.

I have enjoyed listening to Lucinda narrate the cast of crazy characters, accents, and all.

Forbidden Romance? Yes Please! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read

Sheilagh and Alec’s story has a very fresh take on the teacher/professor coming together story. These two bump heads at every turn and take steps to not be around each other. By doing that they come together in a more organic way that is quite beautiful.
