Age Gap Romance

This was a very interesting take on the student-professor age gap. Sheilagh and Alec meet in the philosophy class he teaches and the material is a heavy theme throughout the story.

It’s a steamy read and they have a lot of great chemistry in most aspects of their relationship. I enjoyed seeing them fight for their happily ever after.

It did take me a while to get into this book. It’s technically a standalone but there’s a lot of complex family dynamics and drama related to the other books in the series.

Lucinda Gainey did a good job with this dual point of view story.

Thank you to Valentine PR and the author for the chance to listen to this story in exchange for an honest review.

Favorite McCullough so far!

This book was so good. I loved pretty much everything about it. It was a well done age gap. As always, the author did a great job tackling some heavier topics. The narrator was fantastic and did a great accent for the hero. I can’t wait for more!

Each one is as good as the next! Lydia Michael’s is a master.

Ok.. every McCullough mountain I keep saying I might like better than the prior book…. But the truth is.. they are all excellent. Each sibling book deals with real life issues. It hilifgts the fact that there. Am be problems for you even if toucans raised with the best life.

Shayla has spent 6 years letting a secret derail her life…. When her brothers force her to go to college… she gets the chance to branch out. She is so used to things the way they have been that she’s frustrated.

Her journey includes a lot of self reflection and realizations.. and I’m not going to share them. Suffice it to say it’s excellently written and easily read.. and her realizations just might make you think about your own life and choices…. It’s well worth the read! Period.

My new favorite

I've enjoyed this entire series but this is my new favorite! I enjoyed their entire relationship and finding themselves. Helps to read in order to know the backstory, but can be standalone.

Enjoyed this student/professor romance

Sheilagh and Alec’s age gap, student/professor love story was an enjoyable read. Their connection was really good from the beginning and they had great chemistry. I enjoyed watching them grown individually and as a couple. I really enjoyed the McCullough clan and all their hilarious shenanigans.

Beautifully Captivating & Heartfelt! Great 🎧 📚🎧

I am loving this McCullough Mountain series, the characters and storylines are amazing, as is the family dynamics and camaraderie amongst them. Lydia Michaels is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style and ability to draw her readers into the stories she creates. And making it even more special is how realistic the characters are and how easy they are to relate to and connect with. The books in this series are written to stand on their own, each one features a different McCullough sibling, while some family members appear in each other’s books as secondary characters, everything you need to know about them is in the descriptive details, each book is as wonderful as the other and I highly recommend them all. Ms. Michaels created something special with this series, the emotions pour off the pages and into your heart and tub on your heartstrings the entire time. Sheilagh McCullough has a brilliant mind, it is both a blessing and a curse at the same time. She planned on attending college after HS, but after seeing something she was not supposed to, it crushed her and sent her into a tailspin, causing her to act out whenever she could. She never went to college, stayed home instead, but when her brothers finally had enough of her wildness and terrible life choices, they gave her an ultimatum, she needed to go to college like she had originally planned. She went and took a full course load, but when her philosophy professor challenges her, she wants to throw in the towel. Dr. Alec Devereux wants to get the most out of his students and he sees something in Sheilagh, not just her smarts but that she is not applying herself as much as she could and that she is hiding who she really is. And she may have given up on “Plato’s Republic” he still did not give up on her. It was great to watch these two not only fall in love but to challenge each other. It was also great to watch Sheilagh come into her own once she recognized what was holding her back, herself. This beautifully plotted story has the perfect balance of drama, heartfelt emotions, some great dialogue and steamy romance. As always, I loved the McCullough’s shenanigans and watching Sheilagh get some payback. Lydia Michaels, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Lucinda Gainey is a talented narrator and a versatile voice artist. She continues to do an amazing job, bringing these characters to life, humanizing them and giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow and tell who is who. She has a complete understanding of the characters she is portraying and I love how she takes each role and makes it her own, sounding believable in every role she plays. She played Sheilagh’s role with perfection, grasping every side of her personality and her Alec was amazing too, accent and all. You could hear how much heart she puts into her work as she captures all the character’s emotions and projects them into her performance, having you feel every single one. Lucinda Gainey is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

Sweet age gap romance

I really enjoyed this story and these characters, even when it was kind of sad and depressing. It certainly makes you want to read the next one in the series, if the mention of those two in earlier books hasn't already.

I really liked the progression of this one and how things ended up working out. I was laughing so hard during the end where they're getting revenge on her brothers. It was nice to see her grow to that point and I'm glad we were given that last little bit because it was really the cherry on top.

Lucinda Gainey did a wonderful job, like always! I honestly think I could listen to her narrate just about anything and be satisfied at the end of it. Highly suggest giving this one a go!

Loved Alec and Sheliagh

The British Professor is the 4th book in the McCullough Mountain Series, and can be read as a standalone. If you love a good age gap, student/professor, small town, family saga romance then this is the book for you! This books definitely had some roller coasters, and family drama. Sheliagh was a sweet but sassy, smart young lady who was lost, felt invisible, was reckless, was tired of carrying others burdens and was tired of loving some one who never loved her back. Her recklessness forced her brothers to take matters into their own hands and forced her to go to college. Meeting Dr. Alec Devereaux was more than she anticipated in more ways than one. He challenged her, push her out of her comfort zone, and made her see color when her world was anything but. He was so perceptive, was the only one who really saw her. She didn’t have to be something she wasn’t. They gave each other peace, they were the air they breathed. He made her feel alive, loved cherished, possessed and he understood her. Loved their story. The narrator Lucinda Gainey did a fabulous job with the series. She was easy to listen to, and kept me engaged. Great read/ listen

4.5 stars, 4 steamy kisses

Book #4 in the McCullough Mountain series

steamy, romance, age gap, forbidden romance, strong smart heroine, older and wise single parent hero, family drama, single dad, humor, drama, unrequited love, family series, book series, secretly dating, hea, depression

Yet another McCullough story that I loved because of the strong, witty, funny, and flawed characters that are struggling to deal with their imperfections, honesty, attraction, and applying what they learn in the classroom to life. It was so great to meet a man who has no connection to the McCullough clan because it brought out more drama and humor. Loved it!

A super supportive hero!

Another journey into the McCullough family and the McCullough Mountain series. All of the books have had challenges for the characters and this one had challenges for both the H and h. Alec is a professor and Sheilagh is his student...at least until she isn't any more. She is super smart and thinks she'll turn in her term paper at something like the end of the first week. That's pretty ballsy. However, it doesn't get her the grade she's looking for from Alec and some real antagonism springs up on her part. That sets the tone for the first part of the book, along with some other challenges for Sheilagh.

What I loved about their relationship was how patient and supportive he was of her once they got together. He stood up against her family when they tried to run over her and was calm in the face of some of her moods that even she didn't understand. He really made an effort to understand what she was going through.

I listened to the audio version of this book narrated by Lucinda Gaines. She did a great job and I loved the professor's accent!

Thanks to Valentine PR for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
