Great Book

It's an encouraging book for people with DID who are looking to hear the story of someone that lives it .

All about DID.

I read other reviews which seemed to say this book had little to do with D.I.D. Clearly these reviewers did not read the book. Every paragraph reveals how various elements of his life were shaped by his experience with DID. He references his “alters” constantly. Perhaps the reviewers had no attention span, but seriously- this was ALL ABOUT DID.

Great Book to See How DID Affects Someone's Life

It is a great book for anyone that may have just been diagnosed, or may know someone who is living with DID, to see how people can not only live with this disorder but perform life at the highest level when it is controlled.

Even More Courageous & Brave Than We Thought!

I’m amazed by Herschel”s openness and willingness to share painful, embarrassing parts of his life in an effort to help others. Very few people knew these things about him in 2008, and yet he chose to make these stories public information. How selfless to open himself to the judgement and criticism of so many people, just to help. It takes an extremely strong person emotionally to take on that challenge. I hope people will see past the bad stories and focus on his willingness to help others (and himself).
Thank you, Herschel!

Uplifting and truthful.

Greatful for the insight it provides so that we may better help our loved one with DID. The epilogue had great information I will be sharing with family. Will look into Dr. Mungadze for more information or possible future treatment for my loved one.

God be with those with mental disorders

I am trying to think of what to say as a review for this book. WOW, AWESOME, Totally Amazing… all these seem so mediocre compared to the feeling I have right now. I have a new clarity for mental illnesses. I have a new compassion for those with mental illnesses. I have a new feeling of sympathy for anyone who has to live with mental illnesses. I have a greater respect for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and our Abba Father God! And most importantly I have a new understanding of Herschel Walker. Thank you Herschel for telling us your story. This book gave me a better perspective of you as a person and now as a politician.

Enjoyed the story

I thought the story was more of a memoir or testimony than about DID. Nevertheless, an enjoyable experience. I learned a few things (depersonalization, derealization). Further convinced that childhood trauma is the most common factor found in people with mental illness.

Unfortunately boring

Mr. Walker narrates it himself and is very well spoken. His story is very boring. I heard nothing traumatic enough to typically cause DID.

I appreciate this book

I found this book very insightful and inspirational. Thank you for sharing your story. It is wonderful to see your perspective as one who has had to deal with DID from the perspective of a fellow human being and Christian. I gained valuable insights I hope will help me overcome my own personal challenges in my life. Perhaps more valuable, I will hopefully see and treat people who suffer from the myriad of mental and other illnesses with greater love, patience, and compassion.
