#1 New York Times bestselling author and “queen of royal fiction” (USA Today) Philippa Gregory returns with a dazzling historical novel of ambition, betrayal, and survival in the court of Henry VIII.

Jane Boleyn watches from the shadows of the Tudor court, where secrets are currency, every choice is dangerous, and even the faintest whisper can seal the fate of queens.

For Jane, survival demands playing every role required of her: a loving wife who conceals her doubts, a devoted sister to Anne Boleyn at the height of her power, and an obedient spy who carefully wields her words. But in a court ruled by ambition and a tyrant’s sword, Jane must rely on her sharp wit and skillful maneuvering to outthink those around her, knowing that one wrong move could cost her everything.

Philippa Gregory masterfully shines a spotlight on the untold story of Jane Boleyn, peeling back the myths to reveal a complex portrait of a woman who dared to survive at any cost. Perfect for fans of thrilling historical drama and listeners captivated by the intrigue of the Tudor period, Boleyn Traitor is a must-listen.

Loved this book. Having read much of the rest of the author’s catalog I really enjoyed learning about Jane and being familiar with so many of the other figures already.

Might be my fave Gregory title, yet!

The blend of history and fiction was seamless. Every one of Phillipa Gregory's Tudor books is a joy to read and the narrators always enhance the text.

An extraordinary work!

Ms Gregory is a true mistress and virtuoso of historical fiction, her prose flows in an effortless, yet captivating way. Her portrayal of Jane is nuanced and multifaceted. Even though this representation is certainly more sympathetic than the villain we are used to from many sources past, she is by no means an innocent. Jane still does horrible things, but we understand why she does them. She is driven by ambition, but her kindness and goodness shine through at every stage of this courtly game of manipulation and survival. Highly recommended!

Superb!

Im so relieved to see a novel redeeming Jane Boleyn in a way. I was so tired of authors bullying her!
I loved this book, I think its one of my favorites by Philippa.

I love that Philippa Gregory amended her previous interpretation of Jane Boleyn’s character. As always, she brings the Tudor Cort alive. Even though I know how the story ends, Philippa breathes new life into the characters and I CARED so much about Jane and Kitty that I was hoping against hope that she would take artistic license and spirit them both away to Italy.

I have not read any other Phillipa Gregory books in many years, but I was eager to read this book because Jane Boelyn has always interested me. How did she survive so long when so many others around her did not? This book gives plausible answers to that question and quite a few others. The characters are well fleshed out and nuanced and descriptions of places and events are quite detailed. The narrator does a wonderful job of making you hear the growth and evolution of Jane's character throughout the years. I was most eager to hear Jane's perspective on several major events that from history I knew were coming, but Jane in the book witnesses very few if any of these. Of course there's so much we dont know about historically, but those missing pieces rendered the book anticlimactic and the story felt incomplete to me. I did enjoy the afterword read by the author and the interview at the end.

Great narrator

Well done, Jane Boleyn is such a fascinating historical figure and it was great to learn more about her and hear her perspective for the first time.

Didn’t disappoint

This Jane Boleyn felt like a completely different character from that portrayed in Gregory's earlier Tudor books (The Other Boleyn Girl, The Boleyn Inheritance...). She's intelligent, logical, cautious - even kind and sympathetic. This Jane seems concerned for everyone around her, and the "Traitor," in the title is intentionally misleading. I'm not sure what happened to change Philippa Gregory's mind about this character, but it's refreshing. The only thing lacking is the heated romance of most of her other books, but I'll take that over the sort of weird voyeurism Jane had in earlier works.

Jane who??
