NATIONAL BESTSELLER • In this spellbinding novel, Lestat, rebel outlaw, addresses the tribe of vampires, telling us the mesmerizing story of how he became prince of the vampire world, and of the formation of the Blood Communion, and how his vision for the Children of the Universe to thrive as one, came to be.

Lestat takes us from his ancestral castle in the snow-covered mountains of France to the verdant wilds of lush Louisiana, with its lingering fragrances of magnolias and night jasmine; from the far reaches of the Pacific’s untouched islands to the 18th-century city of St. Petersburg and the court of the Empress Catherine. He speaks of his fierce battle of wits and words with the mysterious Rhoshamandes, proud Child of the Millennia, reviled outcast for his senseless slaughter of the legendary ancient vampire Maharet, avowed enemy of Queen Akasha, who refuses to live in harmony at court and who threatens all Lestat has dreamt of....

Trying to get into this book and the narrator is reminiscent of David Sadaris or Richard Simmons. Both wonderful people whom I like very much. But as far from a 18th century French Vampire as a wolf is to a goldfish.

They couldn't have chosen a worse narrator.

The Narrator is very distracting, I could not continue listening, suffered four chapters. I have listened to all the other Vampire Chronicles on Audible, I will have to just read this one on my own. I wasted a credit. Why Audible did not have Simon Vance narrate is beyond my understanding.

Narrator is BAD

Book and story line GRRAT as expected. I wish Simon Vance read as he makes Lestat who he should be. but overall it was good.

Awesome story but a lack luster read

I’m a huge fan of this series. Messing around with changing narrators to someone who doesn’t even pronounce any of the names right is horrifying! I couldn’t enjoy this one, would re-listen if someone else narrates it.

Oh the horror…

the story is great but the narrator mispronounces all the names and it drove me nuts and kept taking me out of the story

The End

I wish I could give a more detailed review of the story and I certainly don't want to seem like I'm hating on the voice actor, but I just couldn't get through his performance of this title. I've been an Anne Rice fan for years and I've come to understand that her novels have a pace best described as contemplative, unhurried and emotionally detailed. The narrator of this production was the opposite; rushed, no distinguishing between which character is speaking, seemingly-random changes in vocal pitch and tempo... I couldn't invest myself in the story because of the performance. I'm so disappointed; definitely worth picking up a hard copy of the book, absolutely, but I'd recommend avoiding this audio version.

Clearly not the narrator's niche

As with all of Anne Rice's books, I loved every word with all its rich detail. Was it her greatest book? Probably not, but even her worst book is better than many author's best. I'm hoping this isn't the final conclusion to the vampire chronicles...I could listen to her stories forever, and feel like I know the characters personally. She does such a good job developing her characters and giving them deep and meaningful personalities. They are truly larger than life!

The narrator for this book however, was the wrong choice. There were no accents of the different characters, and the emotion in his voice was either shallow or non existant. He just wasn't the right choice for a book about such deep, dark content matter.

Good story, wrong narrator

the narrator is so terrible I almost couldn't get through the book. It was extremely distracting that he was so bad I think it distracted from the story.

The narrator is terrible horrible awful!

i was really not feeling this one. Lestat annoyed me so much! if he really had listened to the other vampires, none of that shit would've happened. Then!! there's the stunt with Marius and oh hell no, i don't think so! i just didn't like this one as much as the others. next time, please bring Simon Vance back.

damn it Lestat, don't you listen?!

Well, best one since Memnoch the Devil. I enjoyed this book. Well worth the buy. Please, Ms. Rice, keep writing more!

Best one yet!
