PLEASE, let there be a part three!!! What happens to the children as the grow up together in the 60's? How do they adjust to the relationship of three parents during the normalized 50's and 60's of two parent households.

I have thoroughly loved both books!!!! Listened to both of them in two days!!!!!!

Unexpectedly Beautiful

I’ll admit I was hesitant to listen to this one. I got so enamored with Michael and Alex’s story that I didn’t want to give Lamont the time of day! But I’m so glad I did. The story is wonderful, which is a standard for Joan Vassar.

Bittersweet is so much more than a romance novel, it’s really a story of family. There was something so healing for me about this story, the way that the characters fill each other’s lives. The ending in particular has incredibly profound subtext.

And of course, Joan Vassar is a master of eroticism. There’s even more sex scenes than Sweet Honesty and trust me they are delicious!

Bittersweet is informative, really. Polyamory doesn’t seem so strange. This story is one I’m willing to bet has existed in hundreds of families, just not in so many words. I also appreciate that these stories take place during a time when being polyamorous or queer is heavily condemned. It opens one’s eyes to the possibility of how people really lived in the 1950s behind closed doors, concealed with well constructed narratives and unspoken truths. It’s such a beautiful story about the disillusionment and redefinition of love, family, and community.

Amazing

I love this series so much. I couldn’t wait for the audio. Love the TRI dynamic of there relationship that Grew to an untouchable love.

Love is patient

Lamont and Jack were two characters from Sweet Honesty that I didn’t know if I would like based on their behavior in the previous book. Lamont couldn’t own his truth and led Vickie on, and Jack wanted to force Alex into relationship that he didn’t want. When Lamont ended up at Jack’s house, it was the best decision ever. Watching the growth in both Lamont and Jack was beautiful. We got to find out their traumas and fears, which added a heart-aching perspective. The addition and evolution of their mutual friendship and love for Vickie and each other was a bird’s eye view into polyamory and how love works in human form when it is real, kind and patient. Another wonderful story and dynamic narration.

Awesome Story of Love

I have to give it to the author for giving us a very thoughtful and beautiful story of live and acceptance.

The voice performances were great. The pacing and story unfolding was spectacular.

Beautiful performance by both Sean Crisden & Trei Taylor as usual! They did a fabulous job of bringing Joan’s immaculately written story, rooted in vulnerability, authenticity, and acceptance in turbulent times, to life. Highly recommended! 💕

significance of the color blue?

the mention of blue was mentioned dozens of times, why? the second in the series had the same excellence as the first. Vassar,s writing style is classic, great story teller

Finding a LIFE!

This story blends the love of 3 people who -- in a time where their love in its purest form, is unacceptable.

In this continued story... Lamont, Vickie, and Jack, all quickly learn that LOVE is accepting Love in a setting that may cross every boundary, and yet they All are willing to take that chance of LOVE for LOVE.

No spoilers... but this story picks up from Lamont's point of loving two people in different ways.
Vickie loves him and shows him that LOVE by accepting who HE is without judgment --ever!
Jack has been in a few relationships- but is seeking a real LOVE and he realizes that loving two may be easy to do.😉

Ms. Vassar's ART of storytelling shines through yet again. Her characters as usual play their part to the T-- and keep you wanting more... Like what is Felix story and when will his book come out?🤣🤣😎 (insider Fort group joke)

Both narrator's Sean and Teri make the Art flow in a refreshing way and the story never seems out of sink 👏👏👏
I enjoyed the blending of these characters and their story being brought to life.

Loved it

This book highlighted the definition of love and balance. Looking forward to a book 3 to see how the children navigated through their warped yet beautiful life.

interesting storyline

The sequel picked up with the last book left off. It was an interesting storyline and to witness and experience. The characters progress felt good. The story to take place in the 1950s was well before it’s time. Good Read.
