She thought he was just a cocky, spoiled rich kid. She had it so very wrong.
Shane Hendrix had a hundred-foot reinforced steel wall around her heart to keep people out, so when she first laid eyes on Jensen Rose, she wanted nothing to do with him. But what started as disdain quickly grew into something so much more. He went from being the boy she hated to the man she loved with all her heart. Then he left without so much as a goodbye, leaving her shattered.
Jensen Rose didn’t have much good in his life. That was until he stumbled on a ray of light standing in the middle of his bedroom. He had to have her, and once he did, he loved her with every single piece of himself. But when his past threatened to rip them apart, he did the only thing he could think to protect her. He walked away.
When he returned to Redemption, Tennessee, it was with every intention of winning back the love of his life. But she’s not giving in without a fight.
And this is a battle he intends to win.

This story is a great one! This may be my favorite of the series.
Jensen and Shane have explosive chemistry, and it is shown in the pages.
Jensen does a great job of redeeming himself in this one. And I loved seeing him get his family back.
I can't wait to get into more of these stories, and these characters are ones that I adore.
Loved!

However, I’m starting to grow weary of the “parents are evil” trope. Maybe the next book will give us a different devil to hate? Here’s hoping…
So good.

If he deals with turmoil by closing off, taking it out on you (verbally, emotionally, physically), that pattern will continue.
Believing that this will change, or believing that your love can change him, that you are strong enough to control or withstand his "moods", is what keeps people in domestic violence / intimate partner violence situations.
Feeling butterflies is your body telling you you aren't safe. When you meet someone you can truly be yourself with, and feel safe with, your nervous system calms, and you feel calm.
PLEASE, fellow readers, take some time to read up on the cycle of violence, and realise that these books are so chock full of red flags, that they're basically an instruction manual of what not to do, what not to put up with. If someone tosses your stuff across tables and onto floors (as in book 2 of this series), angry that you're not paying them proper attention, please recognize that that is violence. It's not how people behave in a healthy dynamic.
Carrying people off, not respecting boundaries, and not being able to regulate your emotions is all either criminal, dangerous or both. Sure, I can feel sorry for Jensen. I can also recognize that his behavior follows patterns, and those patterns leave bruises, poverty, and broken hearts.
So, if you're reading this book and others by the same author for entertainment value, go for it, Just know that the relationships depicted are the beginning of really dangerous situations, and especially the heroine of this book is statistically likely to end up in a DV shelter in the near future.
Stories like this make women stay in DV situations
