When a body is found in a remote Scottish glen, DI Munro comes out of retirement to investigate. The police chief wants everything wrapped up before the upcoming regatta, but the locals are remarkably unforthcoming with helpful information.

Sassy and quick, London detective sergeant Charlotte West is roped in by DI Munro to help solve what is now a murder case. It is good police work that will unravel the truth behind the crime, but not without ruffling a few feathers first.

Will the killer escape the sharp-witted detectives’ grasp?

Scottish setting, interesting mystery and imperfect but likeable characters - my personal trifecta. The narrator’s choices of voices for the main characters make this easy listening too.

Nice balance of mystery and personal interaction

A very odd book. It seemed like I was listening to a movie. There is almost no description of characters or setting. Lots of dialog but characters were seldom introduced. No ‘susie said’ or ‘john replied’. Instead it was voice 1, voice 2, voice 1, voice 3, voice 2... My confusion was made worse by the strong Scottish accents. A lot of books these days seem too long but this one was too abbreviated. Not recommended.

Too short
