An abandoned restaurant on a hill off the highway in Western Massachusetts doesn't look like much. But to Rio, a young Black woman bereft after the loss of her newborn child, this hill becomes more than a safe haven—it becomes a place to start over. She convinces her husband to help her construct a society underground, somewhere safe, somewhere everyone can feel loved, wanted, and accepted, where the children learn actual history, where everyone has an equal shot.

Wonderfully Woven Tale
Kara is a complex woman struggling to figure out who and where she wants to be in life. Brennen is a mysterious man, Army Special Forces, who is a loner trying to find meaning in his own life.
I have never listened to a story that even remotely resembles this one. It was a, unique, powerful mystery, and I was enthralled from word one. Carlotta Brentan's narration was superb! I loved this book and can't wait to listen to more from author Emma Fedor!

Didn’t want it to end!
Whirlwind island romance unfolds into a heartbreaking family mystery with a dash of sci-fi and suspense! Flew through this book and was left wanting more!

Perfect beach ⛱️ read
Thoroughly engaging story on all levels, characters, interactions, and relationships. The author had expertise in varying settings between Martha's Vinyard and Phoenix. Her descriptive use of food from New England dinners to potato chips added a happy realism and memories for me. As a native Phoenician who loves and lived in Massachusetts, the story pulled at my longings for the best times in my life. I await Emma Fodors next book with anticipation for another great ride, wherever it is.
