Resumen del Editor

Christopher Golden's Ararat is the heart-pounding tale of an adventure that goes wrong - on a biblical scale. When an earthquake reveals a secret cave hidden inside Mount Ararat in Turkey, a daring, newly engaged couple are determined to be the first ones inside...and what they discover will change everything.

The cave is actually a buried ancient ship that many quickly come to believe is Noah's Ark. When a team of scholars, archaeologists, and filmmakers make it inside the ark, they discover an elaborate coffin in its recesses. Inside the coffin, they find an ugly, misshapen cadaver - not the holy man they expected, but a hideous creature with horns. Shock and fear turn to horror when a massive blizzard blows in, trapping them thousands of meters up the side of a remote mountain. All they can do is pray for safety. But something wicked is listening to their prayers...and it wants to answer.

Awesome Book!

This book was action-packed almost from the beginning. It really held my interest and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. The ending was great too! It was something that I never saw coming!

Started so good

Robert Fass was exceptional. Who is he?!

Am a geographer so of course I found the premise of this book enthralling. Volcanic mountain, linked with Abrahamic religion mythology, and maybe paleoclimatology, and then like movie adapted by sci-fi channel, it went to hell. Literally.

<spoiler>

They find a cave on the side of the mountain which is literally Noah's arc. Within it they find a cask with horns. So something about angels that fell, and that there were demons on earth and finally you have a scenario where this spirit keeps possessing people and making them kill themselves , jumping from body to body? Almost reminded me of Fallen 1989 with Denzel Wahsington written by Kazan. Sigh.

</spoiler>

I still enjoyed it but it could have been so much more.

Monster Fare

Christopher Golden's "Ararat" is a fun simple read with a pretty mediocre ending. It's a monster story pure and simple. Think "The Thing From Another World" or "Alien" and you're close to the mark. I made my expectations a bit high because of the biblical mystery angle to it but trust me, that's just background. The story is about the horned thing chasing down the protagonists just like the description says. There is a coda to the story which is unnecessary. It would have been better had it ended on the mountain. Well read by Robert Fads.

Suspenseful and engaging story

I was surprised to see that the reviews came out to a 3.8 for this novel. That was not my experience at all. I thought the story provided character death highlighting the relationships between the characters along side and intriguing and scary story. Diversity and the tensions that can com from that were demonstrated in the story, which can be a microcosm of our broader society. The story delved into something exploring religious differences while trying to keep science and reason at the forefront. I highly recommend this book. I am visually impaired, and this review was dictated.

Decent story and narrator

It is a decent story although I would have wished for some more historical context or tie ins. The narrator was quite good EXCEPT that his voice acting of female characters was beyond atrocious.

👍👍👍

I got this book because it won the Bram Stoker award for best horror novel and it definitely did not let me down. I thought that the story was very clever and new. I really liked the narrator. I feel that he got all the voices down. What was cool is that it played out just like a movie. It wasn’t scary to be honest, but I’m not one who gets scared by books. It was a till very entertaining and super fun.

Excellent and talented narrator.

I enjoyed the book but wish it had a different ending. Too much like so many horror stories that can't seem to find an end.

fantastic

It's not often you get a book of this caliber and manage to land a narrator as skilled as thus one, but they managed to do it. I would recommend this novel.

gripping

what a story.! It starts off a little slow but once it gets going it doesn't stop. Zero to 60 and Micah 10 chapters. A rollercoaster of excitement a little bit of Mystery and a gripping murder mystery Adventure.! I recommend this book for sure.
