Kyle Riggs is in for a rough ride.

In Annihilation, the seventh book of the Star Force Series, nothing goes as planned. The three fledgling human colonies in the Eden System are beginning to take hold, but the forces threatening to root them out are many. The Crustaceans are calling for help, despite the fact they are the sworn enemies of Star Force. Are they potential allies, or vicious tricksters? And why are the oceans of their world heating up?

Even as Riggs flies out to investigate the situation, more mysteries arise. The Blues are making vague threats, and Earth is suing for peace. Who is to be trusted, and who holds a dagger behind their backs?

Annihilation is a military science fiction novel by best-selling author B. V. Larson. To find the first book in the series, search for Swarm. Annihilation is the longest book in the series so far....

If you are reading this review, its only because you have been sucked into the Star Force series and plan on getting this next book no matter what i say. I read other readers thoughts, some weren't favorable,i didn't care, and i bought the book.

I loved it. I only wish they were longer. Rigs really needs to go blow the crap out of "you know who" back on earth and soon.

Im not going to say anything about the story. Again, this is what, book 7 in the series? If you are even looking at this book,it means you have read the previous 6. Buy it and like it.

BV Larson, get to writing. I want the next book asap.

I want to hang out with Quan.

The book is another great story. Narrator as usually - awesome. However I heard also a great tech bullshit during this book. Which is very unusual for Larson. He usually don't make such mistakes. An EMP goes off and Kyle and his staff are in the middle of the EMP. All tech goes offline, no power, no anykind of tech. So how does he fix this ? He uses nanobots to fix it. Not only that, but one of the staff dies due to lack of O2 (again due to the EMP) and Larson says something like: nanobots inside the man keeps him alive. How in the world this time nanobots survived the EMP and didn't survive the EMP in previous books of the series ? Not a big deal, the story is still very interesting.. but Larson had to come with some better solution for the nanobots.. after all Larson blasted nanobots with EMP in previous books and nanobots go offline easily from EMP.

So again, this is a small glitch.. a bug :) But the story is strong, nice and entertaining! Highly recommended.

Another great B.V.Larson book

Heads up to all follower of this great series. You can get Book 8 at amazon as E-book . I hope audible will get on the ball and get this for us. I can not let this series go. Is it good? Well, duh! I gave all 7 a 5.

Faverts

the protagonist Kyle Riggs is just not. believable character. indescribably brilliant and blatantly sexist, the character gets more objectionable as the series grinds on. He's a character after the rather boring stereotype of Shatner's Kirk with less depth and infinitely more luck. This character borders on rediculous and just isn't believable. Still a fun read, but as the series continues I find myself rolling my eyes more and more.

it's fine.

I continue with enjoyment of my bing listening through the on-going storyline. Each book is masterfully woven into the overall story.

Would you consider the audio edition of Annihilation to be better than the print version?

Of course. Mark Boyett is such an accomplished narrator, a favorite - right next to Scott Brick. He is so good that when I read print edition of any novel I hear Mark's voice anyway.

What did you like best about this story?

Ever notice how one character just seems to steal every scene even when they aren't really trying to? Our beloved galactic robot - Marvin - has gone and upgraded himself for a specific project. In his best effort to take care of a tragic situation for Col. Riggs, he's applied his unemotional and scientific zeal for discovery and taken it to a grotesque level. Yet, you cannot help but appreciate his adaptive creativity.

Which scene was your favorite?

This was a toss up for me. There is a scene where Riggs and some of his "Pigs" are hunkered down in the dirt trying to fight a gigantic mech that is steamrolling over them. Hoping to score a win by fighting from underneath the behemoth, the team finds themselves with a frighteningly over-sized target sure to squish them. That little battle was so well written I could sense the fear and hear the deafening sounds. The second scene is where Kyle Riggs punches into the room to see what Marvin is up to. The resulting description of Marvin's self-edit to accomplish a medical task was a stroke of macabre that really spiced up an otherwise predictable storyline.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, its the funeral scene. I don't want to let out here who dies, but the scene is so powerful. Go ahead and place a bookmark here - because this, in my opinion, is the turning point for Kyle.

Any additional comments?

I was afraid that this book might be a little bit of a dud based on other reviews. I disagree, having found this to be a critical book in the series. Its the perfect setup for a change in the protagonist's personality and sets us on the path of something new. The narration was flawless as usual for Mr. Boyett. Trust the series, trust B.V., and go ahead and get Annihilation. Its worth the credit or the coin. Well done!

Another great addition to the Star Force series. Though I did feel that this book started off a bit on the slow side. Annihilation definitely lives up to its name and leaves you begging to know what's going to happen next.

This installment brings back some great drama that we haven't seen since the first book. Larson locks you in emotionally and there's no turning back. You also have the different enemies/aliens/machines planning, plotting, and attacking from every which way keeping you wondering how far this rabbit hole goes.
With all the possible story angles this series can only get better.

Mark Boyett continues to do amazing work telling the story. And as always he brings extra life to each character.

The most unenjoyable part of reading this series is easily waiting for the next book. Let the torture begin.

This was the warm-up for Battlefield Earth 11. There was plenty of action and space battles for us all. Anyone who doesn't like this one was wrong, wrong, wrong, This was classic Kyle Riggs at his best. The sad part was the death of Sandra. Everyone in the car had a tear in there eye.

Kicking ass and taking names

Some great plot devices, twists and turns. The story matures to its next phase. Looking forward to the next instalments.
