Resumen del Editor

A cop at the opera...

Wisteria Tearoom owner Ellen Rosings coaxes Detective Tony Aragón to go with her to the Santa Fe Opera, but the magnificent performance of Tosca ends in disaster. In bizarre counterpoint to the opera's plot, the leading man is murdered in his dressing room, and Tony must rush to secure the crime scene. Ellen is left to comfort Vi Benning, a former server at the tearoom who is now an apprentice at the opera and a protégée of the slain singer. No opera aficionado, Tony turns to Ellen for help navigating the world in which he must now conduct an investigation.

At the same time, Ellen is coping with a sudden, mysterious jump in business at the tearoom. Her problems are eclectic: Who killed the famous baritone? What do the antique letters she's found have to do with the tearoom's resident ghost? And will she and Tony ever find time for a normal date? This cozy mystery is the third in the Wisteria Tearoom Mysteries series.

It was fine

This was my first of the Wisteria Tea Room series, and though it was very easy to follow despite this, the series just isn’t for me. I did not find myself engaged in the characters or really caring what happened next. I also was not a big fan of the narrator

CAPTIVATING !

Where does An Aria of Omens rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the 1st I have listened to that wasn't of biblical nature. I have love mysteries since my 6th grade teacher gave me a book of Ellery Queen to get me to read. I have been reading ever since. I love this new tech way of 'reading a book'. So this is a wonderful book.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. Trying to figure who 'done it', wonderfully played. I didn't guess until the end. Great!

What about Dina Pearlman’s performance did you like?

The narration was excellent. The 'voice' was exactly where it should have been during the whole performance.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I don't really know, but was up in the night trying to listen, (should have been asleep).

Any additional comments?

I hope to read 'listen' to the next one. Maybe very soon.

Murder, mystery and a tea shop

This book was so good that I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked the characters.

Kind of Disappointing

I purchased this audio book on a sale. The information given in the sale indicated that this was the first book of the series. It's not; it's the third book. Worse, the book keeps making all these references to previous books, but doesn't give enough detail to make all the dynamics clear.

Compound the fact that this is supposed to be a mystery but makes use of "supernatural" sources, it's pretty trying to listen to.

The author clubs you over the head with the main character's obtuseness, and the main character's privileged life style--complete with Latinx employees she really treats as servants, hiring more staff whenever she doesn't want to work without a thought about how she's going to pay for it, employees who are expected to drop everything in their own lives so she's not inconvenienced, and family members sending her off for massages. (spoiler alert--read no further in this paragraph if you don't want to have the mystery compromised) The author makes the the sex lives of the opera stars "perverse" even though it's between consenting adults (and spends time speculating about the sexuality of her Latino chef--which is absolutely none of her business) so of course the most sexually active person has to be the murderer...

I am REALLY glad I didn't waste a credit on this. The $5 I did spend is too much.
