Resumen del Editor

Cops drink coffee. They don't belong in Ellen Rosings's Victorian tearoom. But when her opening day thank-you tea ends in the murder of the president of the Santa Fe Preservation Trust, the police invade her haven. Enter Detective Tony Aragon: attractive and unsympathetic, with a chip on his shoulder that goes beyond the murder investigation, and Ellen's delicate bone china cup is full. Is the murderer one of her honored guests, or the ghost rumored to haunt the building? Will Ellen solve the mystery, or will the Wisteria Tearoom's premiere turn out to be its - and Ellen's - finale?

FANTASTIC Listen

Would you listen to A Fatal Twist of Lemon again? Why?

Yes, This is one of the best Mac and cheese; hot cocoa; mashed potato comfort listen I have heard in a long time. I love books and audiobooks and this is one of the best.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Tony Aragon, of course. My insignificant other is a cop--sounds just like himQQQ

What about Dina Pearlman’s performance did you like?

Her voice inflections--I would make a horrible reader--just do not have the talent but am always impressed with readers who make the story come alive.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Some parts tickled me--and for me that is saying a lote. I seldom laugh to myself when I read (most things that are amusing I find so but do not laugh about) but I did laugh outloud at various parts. The musing by Ellen were priceless.

Any additional comments?

I would even read this book--might even pay for it to read it but it was a GREAT listen. I relly enjoyed it.

A good read for when you need non-exciting

The publisher's summary, and the delightfully cheap Whispersync offer on Book Gorilla induced me to try this book. I'm mostly glad that I did. The story was well plotted and developed, and the characters clearly defined. But the heroine is so clinically depressed! The insights into Santa Fe history are enlightening to this Midwesterner, and the possible ghostie is rather fun, and I accept that not all cops are like the ones that I know. Basically, it is a nice escapist read.
However, I wish that I could find something nice to say about the narrator, but since I can't...

This narrator REALLY knows how to ruin a book!

Would you consider the audio edition of A Fatal Twist of Lemon to be better than the print version?

I SOOOOO consider the print version better than this audio because you won't have to listen to this narrator!!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

THE NARRATOR!

What didn’t you like about Dina Pearlman’s performance?

OMG!! She is AWFUL!!!! She sounds as if she is ending almost EVERY sentence with an eye roll!!! At times she kind of sounds out of breath. She also sounds like she think this is the stupidest book as she's reading. I do like the voice she does for Julio but when she reads in her own voice.... Anything or anyone with "ethnic" name it's very condescending and again the eye roll. She also doesn't always change the voice of the women enough to really know who is speaking. She's making me hate this book.

Any additional comments?

Really wish I could get this with a different narrator...its such a good book.

Killer's motive unexplained

Killer's motive was never fully explained to my satisfaction. Previous deduction made it seem unlikely to come to the final outcome.

Tearoom tragedy on opening day.

If you could sum up A Fatal Twist of Lemon in three words, what would they be?

An enjoyable listen!

What did you like best about this story?

The narrator was good, often a good book is ruined by the narrator.I liked the plot. the main characters were developed enough, not overdone. This book would probably be even better if read although I have no criticism of the audible version since I love the freedom of audible books so I can do several things while listening.

Which character – as performed by Dina Pearlman – was your favorite?

The Owner of the Tea Room was my favorite. She was definitely brave living in the upstairs of the shop all alone! When she heard noises in the shop downstairs. I thought what a dummy you are for going down to check the source of the noises. I thought there is probably someone hiding and you are going to get yourself killed.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Didn't make me laugh or cry, I just wanted to find out who the killer was. A mild, light murder mystery. I enjoyed the descriptions of the edibles especially the ones for the coming high tea event. (I love High Tea) Where can I get some of those Strawberry puffs, her friend loved them and I would too?

Any additional comments?

The writing is that of an experienced writer. I would read more by this author.I like to read a few cozy mysteries between the more heavy duty murder mysteries.

Almost there.

The last thing Ellen Rosings wanted two days before the Wisteria Tearoom's grand opening was a murder, especially one in her own parlor. Strangled with her own necklace, Ellen couldn't imagine why anyone would want to harm Sylvia, the president of the Sante Fe Preservation society, but there it was. Someone had - and the police were looking at her.

This is a cozy mystery that would almost do Dame Agatha proud. It's long on description and day to day and includes the necessary amateur sleuth. What it doesn't include is a rational reason for the murder, otherwise, this would be a four star rating.

This book was wonderful!

This book had me hooked from the very beginning. Lovely cozy. Murder and mystery to add to the mixture of a tea house opening.
