This New York Times bestselling memoir examines an NFL player's rise and fall from the Patriots to prison, recounting the first-degree murder conviction that led to his untimely death—and shocking posthumous CTE diagnosis.

Aaron Hernandez was a college All-American who became the youngest player in the NFL and later reached the Super Bowl. His every move as a tight end with the New England Patriots played out the headlines, yet he led a secret life—one that ended in a maximum-security prison. What drove him to go so wrong, so fast?

Between the summers of 2012 and 2013, not long after Hernandez made his first Pro Bowl, he was linked to a series of violent incidents culminating in the death of Odin Lloyd, a semi-pro football player who dated the sister of Hernandez's fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins.

All-American Murder is the first book to investigate Aaron Hernandez's first-degree murder conviction and the mystery of his own shocking and untimely death.

Informative but not as good as other Patterson books. Good detail on Hernandez’ life and death.

The story is accurate on the details but is heavily bias from the author. The actual reading from the voice actor is slow and his voice is stale.

Good content, okay reading

As someone who is interested in Hernandez, I learned little more than I could’ve figured out previously. It is written at the same, third grade level that most of Patterson’s books are written at, which makes for formula reading.

A complex person.

American kingpin hands down the best story I’ve ever heard but All-American murder sits alone at my 2nd favorite for the exact same reason, an incredible story. There were so many unforeseeable events that kept adding on either to Aaron himself or those around him as his life progressed. It set the tone and core of the story and provided great character building. Some moments your sympathizing with him and wondering how it’s going to go so wrong and other moments your have him pinned as a straight up thug that epitomizes evil. And back and forth those feelings go even during the epilogue.
Now one review mentioned how the narrator actually sounds like a robot and you wasn’t able to get through 10 minutes before he turned it off. I don’t know what’s going on but In the first 5-10-15 minutes I was wondering the same thing and pissed bc it sounded like a computer out of the 90s narrating and chopping through each sentence. That fades away after a little while and part of that could be cuz the story grabs you and doesn’t stop. I was pretty pissed at first, wtf I was excited for this book and this asshole is butchering it. honestly after those thoughts faded it didn’t criss my mind the rest of the book. I’m going to listen to Jose Baez (his lawyer) book on Hernandez now, Baezs personal relationship with Aaron during such a vulnerable era of his life is something Patterson can’t compete with.

Gripping story overpowers and picks up slack for sub par narration

Great book, Enjoyed reading the story very serious I think they are more situations like this in the NFL. I truly believe he had a problem read

Thanks to Mr. Patterson & Co for this behind the scenes investigative take on this horrific event. My sympathies to those that suffered injuries and loss.

Another great Patterson and Co production

As captivating a read as any of Patterson's crime fiction, and a real-life cautionary tale about traumatic brain injury.
