A Fun Space Fantasy …

The narration was simply great with each character voice easy to differentiate. Even the smug and irreverent tone of the MC was well represented and I am sure that all significantly contributed to my over all enjoyment of the story … which had surprising depth for each (flawed) character that was easy to connect with. This is on top of the solid world building (with just a bit of mystery) that was so interesting all on its own. I was absolutely fascinated with the human created abominations from which 169 came from as well as the effect of spiritual taboos … which created the “nightmares” on Drake’s home-world. Through it all, the was enough mystery to keep it interesting … and which were revealed at a steady pass to keep the reader engaged. My only complaint would be that some of the scenes (especially the combat/battle scenes) went on just a little too long (and well as some of the internal self-reflection of the main characters). There was a bit of a plot change up toward the end; I had thought resolved the abduction would have ended the first book of the trilogy, but it continued on toward its second major climax (which the epilogue actually kicks that conflict resolution down the road a bit to set up the sequel … and which for some may feel like the book left them hanging).

A Wild Ride in Space

I’ve read Daniel M. Quilters other books, but this one is extra special. This story is truly a fun time, with characters worth rooting for, an intriguing plot, and a unique world that is vibrant, exciting, and expansive.

I was impressed with the depth of the characters, and the way all the different plot points come together. I honestly haven’t read anything else quite like this story. Quilter blends sci-fi and fantasy in a way that just WORKS and makes the world feel fresh and original.

My only complaint is that the second book isn’t available yet!!!

it was perfect

This book is a fun sci-fi read. Whether you listen or read the punchy jokes, and quick paced plot usher you along into a space system of epic proportions. The main characters are colorful and realistic, if a bit eccentric (but let’s be honest- that’s part of the fun!). If you loved the original Star Wars trilogy (1977 one, if you think Anakin, you’re wrong on so many levels) you’ll really enjoy this book. Bonus is the romantic tension that slapped me in the face while making dinner (thank goodness nothing burnt, but it did get way steamier than I expected!)
Anyways, I think you should obviously read or listen to this humorous, high stakes, sci-fi!

It was a fun listen with snappy dialogue. Characters were fun and great. The audiobook narrator was great. I loved it. Can't wait until book two

Super Fun Time!

​I absolutely devoured the audiobook for A Soul Divided and can confidently say it's a hit. This is a non-stop thrill ride that's fast-paced, wickedly clever, and packed with action.

​The story’s greatest strength for me is its cast, starting with the main character, Drake. He was an immediate favorite of mine. His character is built on quick wit and a sarcastic, no BS attitude that provides fantastic levity in the face of constant danger. ​The supporting cast is just as strong and developed. Olivia and Angela aren't just side characters though. They are integrated into the story and their personalities complement and challenge Drake, making for some engaging interactions. Even the primary antagonist, 169, is a powerful and believable adversary, raising the stakes in every encounter.

​Daniel has created a fun and interesting power system here. Combine that with high-stakes battles that span across different reaches of space, and you have a story that is highly imaginative and addictive!

​Overall, A Soul Divided was a truly enjoyable listen that delivers on every front: action, humor, and exceptional character depth. I'm already looking forward to continuing this series!
