Great Book

They do get better after the first one. It was good, but this one was better. I only gave the narration a 4 star review because I still prefer male and female narrative. However, this narrator does a really good job. I usually skip books that have a man only voice but gave this one a shot and Troy Duran was worth it.

Awesome

Awesome start to a series new to me. I compare this to the New species series which is one of my most favorite series it is very similar. Highly recommended ! Well worth the price \credit . Five stars ! I am looking forward to the next one.

Wolfman not a Werewolf

Do not buy this story if you expect the familiar werewolf story

Luke Harris was once a veteran. He was discharged with an artificial pelvis, nerve damage, and broken fingers. In signing up for a better life, he unwillingly was turned into a wolf man. Not a howling at the moon werewolf. He was a genetic experiment, turned into something he did not agree to become. He and many others were changed into monsters by Chimera. They became Chimera’s projects.

In an isolated facility in the lower depths of the earth, Chimera experiments on broken people who trade on hope for a better life. These people had no idea they were lab rats. Luke was not being malicious or rambling like a madman, when he tried to warn Margaret. He spoke the truth, all the truth.

The story became tedious in the day to day care of Luke and building a relationship between him and Margaret. That time did not add any depth to the characters. The wolfman did not come out to play until chapter 17. That is more than 88% into the story.

The author missed an opportunity to impress the magnitude of what was done to Luke. He did not disclose the number of years Luke was at the facility. Luke asked Margaret the year. She told him and asked how long he had been there. He said it was not something she should know. Yet, he warned her again and again to leave. Telling her the numbers of years would have given his assertions some oomph. All we know is that it took 19 months for his body to undergo the change and he was in a coma during that time. There were years he worked with Chimera before he became a prisoner.

There are characters that add nothing to the story. Dr. Cerberus is at the orientation of the nurses. Later it is mentioned he was fundraising, and he is in the last part of the story. There is a line about Cerberus respecting the lives of the patient. Keep that in your mind. It has relevance later in the story. Dr. Sphinx is the nasty vindictive doctor who rules with the stick instead of the carrot. In the story, he uses the stick one time and then his character is not mentioned any more.

It is not until the end with the closing conversation between Cerberus and Chimera that I became interested in knowing what will happen to Margaret and Luke.

I could only give this a 3 star. The next story does not feature Margaret and Luke. From the description Chimera is featured. Since I would like to see him exposed, if the book is on sale, I would buy it.
