Resumen del Editor

From award-winning mystery writer Mindy Quigley comes a hilarious tale of small-town intrigue and big-time crime.

For hospital chaplain Lindsay Harding, facing death is part of the job. After all she spends her working days comforting sick and dying patients. But when the annual Civil War reenactment in her hometown of Mount Moriah, North Carolina, produces a real casualty, the Grim Reaper suddenly gets a little too close for comfort. With the clock ticking, the police struggle to unravel how and why a beloved local reenactor was shot in front of hundreds of onlookers. As fingers point and tempers flare, another victim ends up laid out on Lindsay's front porch.

Lindsay's life is in danger, but her efforts to expose the century-old sins that lie at the heart of the mystery are undermined by her disastrous love life, her no-good mother, and a ninja-like squirrel - not to mention the small matter of a dangerous killer who'll stop at nothing to keep a sinister secret. Will courage, curiosity, and Lindsay's irreverent brand of religion be enough to catch the killer before she becomes the next victim?

Murder in Mount Moriah

Any additional comments?

I LOVED this book!It had just the right amount of murder, mystery and romance!Lindsey is a hospital chaplin who gets herself mixed up in a murder investigation. She had a crappy childhood and everything she does seems to backfire on her.
Holly Adams does a wonderful job of narrating this book.

A great book that brings understanding

As I didn't know author or narrator I didn't have any expectations and as it is slightly out of my usual genre I may even have been sceptical, this book now rates with my listen to again and group

I enjoyed the humour, the tension, and the twists that wove together a story of love, family, and mystery. I highly recommend this book.

The narrator, Holly is so very versatile and talented. She drew me into the story and the characters.

Many thanks for a great book with great narration

Absolutely wonderful

I really loved this book. If I had the money to buy another book, I would definitely buy the next in the series. The story was amazing and kept me going throughout the whole thing. I felt a great connection to the main character. I think there were several times that I laughed at loud and one point where my jaw dropped. Shout out to my friend that listened to my randomized texts with references to this book with absolutely no background knowledge.

The only complaint I could possibly have is the difficulty I had listening to it- I really had to listen with headphones as there were parts where the narration gets so quiet that I could not hear it at all over my speakers. Sometimes the transition from quiet to loud was so quick that I hurt my ears because my sound was turned all the way up to hear what was going on. BUT the narration was just about perfect for the situation. She conveys such emotion and really drawled me into the story. Those quiet moments made me really feel like I was personally in those quiet conversations.

A nice cozy mystery

Pleasant mystery without detailed gore. The story moves along well, and maintains the reader's interest well. Some behaviors and customs are more familiar to Southern readers, but this is not really a problem for others. The characters are clear and some of them are just too much fun! I really enjoyed it and will look for the others.
HA did a good job of delineating personalities and providing Southern accent, but just a bit too hammy for my taste.

History and Mystery

Would you consider the audio edition of A Murder in Mount Moriah to be better than the print version?

Yes, the narration definitely made the characters come alive.

What did you like best about this story?

Overall, I felt the book was well researched. The information about the Civil War was interesting but it never took over the brewing romance and intrigue of the story. The sub stories of the relationships of friends, families and coworkers just added to the richness of the story.

Have you listened to any of Holly Adams’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this is my first.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, I did not find myself laughing or crying, I was just interested and entertained.

Loved it

This was a fast, fun listen – obviously, from my five-star rating, I loved it. It did everything a cozy mystery ought to do: It introduced a main character who isn't Sherlock Holmes but isn't an idiot, is a strong woman but isn't Wonder Woman, is a career woman without being in the food industry … Lindsay Harding is a hospital chaplain, and really, that's a great way to throw a character in the path of otherwise improbably frequent mysterious deaths, isn't it? She's devout without proselytizing, effective, and very, very human. I like her a great deal.

The narration by Holly Adams was perfect for the book and the character. She is now on my list of readers to search out.

The writing is sharp, and funny – not infrequently laugh-out-loud funny, and that's uncommon. Lindsay has a depth to her that I didn't expect, so that alongside the LOL's there were also moving moments. And then would come something like the squirrel, and it would be back to giggling again.

And what a great beginning.

I received this via Audiobookblast.com in exchange for a review. With thanks!

Story was predictable overall.

There was a twist, but the character wasn't developed as completely as could be.

Makes fun of Christianity

Not a “Christian” book. I was extremely disappointed!!!! I makes fun of the south, too. I’m not sure the author has ever been in the south.... at least I can’t tell by this book. Makes up new stereotypes and embellishes the old.

Cute story about family, friends and love!

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review

Lindsey is a hospital chaplain and has to help the grieving with losing their loved ones but when one of the grieving is her friend then she starts investigating and finds out a lot more than she bargained for. This book has humor and plot twist and was a well rounded mystery/romance book. Lindsey has a friend who keeps trying to set her up with mr right but it seems like mr right was already along.
Narration was great. The pacing was a bit slow, I guess because it's set in the south and everything is drawn out so I put it at 1.25x speed and it was perfect. The voices were distinct and different for each character and it was just a joyful fun story to listen to.
I would definitely listen to another book by this author/narrator again.

Happy reading/listening!!!

I was very impressed with her ability to change her accent for the different characters! It helped pull me into the story and I felt like I was right there.
