Resumen del Editor

A Miracle for St. Cecilia’s is a heartwarming story that all lovers of Christian fiction will find uplifting and entertaining. St. Cecilia’s, an old, outdated Catholic Church in a small New England town, is about to be closed down, much to the dismay of the faithful townsfolk. What will become of Father James Flaherty and the aging Father Keene - and what of the flock? When faith and hope endure, even miracles are possible.

Delightful

A wonderful story and that will restore hope to anyone that reads it or listens to it. The narrator did an excellent job of changing his voice for the different characters. Great book

Positive Message But....

I so wanted to like this book. On the good side, it has a positive message and is not violent. On the not so good side, the writing seemed maudlin, predictable and trite. As much as it pains me, I would not recommend this book.

A Great Read

"A Miracle for St. Cecilia's" is a terrific story, whether one is Roman Catholic or not. Full of characters who could easily be one's neighbors and friends, with a plot that is capable of renewing, or strengthening one's belief in miracles, it grabs one by the heart and grants one wings. It truly is a story of the kind of faith that is so needed in this sometimes dismal world. Mr McLarty does a terrific job and is a real pleasure to listen to. Kudos to Ms. Valentine for the opening entry in a series that stands right up there with Jan Karon's Mitford novels .

It Makes You Feel Good Inside

If you could sum up A Miracle for St. Cecilia’s in three words, what would they be?

heartwarming, neighborhood, friends

What other book might you compare A Miracle for St. Cecilia’s to and why?

The Jan Karon Mitford series. It is about a Man of God, his church members, and the towns people living together. How God works everything out and the choices we make.

What about Ron McLarty’s performance did you like?

Yes I did. He has a warm voice. Very expressive.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but life wouldn't allow such luxury. Besides it prolonged the ending. Like the Jan Karon books, I find that I miss the characters once I'm finished reading.

Any additional comments?

I hope the author plans to write a series.

Gorgeous Story

I love this entire series! I needed a break from At Home in Mitford and this fit the bill. Break away from the Social Chaos that we are all entangled in these last couple of years and enjoy some modest laughs and cozy characters. Note on characters…. While they are cozy, they are also real, alive and relatable to the “normal” person. No Amish stuff here (no offense, I like the Amish books too …just can’t relate to them).

Enjoyed this book

Thoroughly enjoyed the story. It contained good humor, sadness, surprise and lots of love. Reminded me of the Jan Karon stories.

Good, but not great

What did you like best about A Miracle for St. Cecilia’s? What did you like least?

This faith based story set in a charming small town held the appeal for me. However I had problems following the timing of some of the action. There were flashbacks that I didn't know were flashbacks until later in the story. At the end we skip from Good Friday to Sunday with apparently no Saturday. These kinds of problems spoiled an otherwise sweet story for me.

Would you be willing to try another book from Katherine Valentine? Why or why not?

I liked this book enough that I'm willing to try the second in this series.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

It was ok. Not memorable but not terrible either.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I might because I like stories like this

Any additional comments?

This book was on a list of recommended reading for fans of Jan Karon's Mitford series. There is actually a reference to that series in this book. I did enjoy the apparent sincerity of faith of the characters. This is a good "Sunday afternoon" listen.
