Resumen del Editor

The fourth installment of the popular Lesson series—featuring therapist, professor, and reluctant sleuth David Unger.

David joins therapy client Bennett, a volatile but goodhearted author, at a mystery writers conference in Las Vegas, where attendees dress up as famous detectives and participate in an innocent whodunit game. So far, so sleuthy.

But all is not what it seems—Bennett’s girlfriend has disappeared, and David is tasked with finding her. And he’s not the only one on her tail.

The conference cosplay takes a less than cozy turn when a series of dramatic deaths wipes out some of the most famous detectives in mystery history, and David must shift his focus from the object of his affections to the subject of murder.

Faced with a pile of bodies, a missing person, and a fake whodunit, David must invoke all his voodoo-magic-therapy skills to determine fact from fiction and expose the truth.

Can he coax the killer out into the open and put the "who" into "whodunit" before the conference ends?

A joy to read or listen

Unger delights us all with his humorous and relatable eponymous character. I think he’s got a real hit here. Will be reading his other books!

Exceptional Audio Treat

I read this book not long ago and really liked it and then a friend told me I had to listen to the audio. I wasn’t keen on it, but thought I would check it out. Wow. Wait till you hear the narrator do Inspector Clouseau, you will crack up. There are mysteries within mysteries here and hearing the different voices makes it all so much richer. The characters here play a game where they dress up and act like famous detectives, thus the appearance of Clouseau, Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple and a bunch of other famous detectives that make the listening so fun. Great book. Even better audio.

OMG Simply amazing. FOOLED ME

If you like your mysteries with a sense of humor, a lack of violence and insight into the human condition that you can actually put to use – well, you can’t do better. The setting for the book is the Mystery Writers of America annual conference so you have a lot of mystery buffs in attendance and everyone plays a mystery game. I once went to a mystery party and we all had to dress up and act like our character. Same here, except people are acting like Sherlock Holmes, Kinsey Millhorn, Inspector Clouseau and others. There is a mystery within a mystery as people try to solve the game while attendance keeps dropping. The narrator has fun with the various accents and my only wish is we get to meet some of these characters again. Enjoy!

Enjoyable!

I like the style of this author and the narrator was enjoyable to listen to. The Vegas setting pulled me in and the setting descriptions were on point. Excellent read!
