Woo Woo Wonderful

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the books I've read by Dr. Unger. So far, A Lesson in Woo-Woo and Murder is my favorite. It has all the usual elements - it's a page-turner with wit, wisdom, and some 1980s raunchiness combined with an unusual sensitivity to human conditions. Unger astutely uses his insight as a therapist to help him figure out whodunit and, thereby, provides us readers with some wise techniques to apply to make our own lives better.

Being a bit of a Woo-Woo fan, I found the book's backdrop fun and interesting. He treats the scene irreverently but with curiosity and fondness. At the beginning of the book, the main character says, "I might buy a few shares in the woo-woo- world, but I wouldn't be a big investor." I like the honest skepticism and open-mindedness as they make being on the journey humorous and refreshing. As usual, the twists and turns are never-ending, the characters entertaining; and, fellow David Unger fans, you'll be happy to hear that the posse is back in full force. I have given all of Dr. Unger's books five-star reviews - I wish I could tack on more to this one. And, lastly, congratulations Jake Austin Robertson for so perfectly narrating all of the wacky and unique characters.

Exceptional

Really enjoyed and valued this book. I liked the setting of this book as I once lived in Southern California and cultural references brought back good feelings. One thing I particularly liked was was the integration of therapeutic insights and the therapist’s viewpoint. Plus there was a lot of humor which made the listening easy. The narrator made the different characters come alive. Can’t wait to listen to the next.

Funny, insightful

I seldom read/ listen to fiction and I found “A Lesson in Woo-Woo and Murder,” a fun, thought provoking adventure. Very expressive and entertaining narration and David Unger reveals many insights into the characters of his work that I couldn’t help but think, “but wait, I think and do the exact same thing!” Clearly the author knows how people work. Thumbs up to “A Lesson in Woo-Woo and Murder.”
