Emma Taylor's performance of this historical romance captures the tension and passion that pervades throughout this audiobook. A Husband's Wicked Ways is the last in Jane Feather's trilogy of the Cavendish Square Ladies. It takes place in 1809 London, a place full of secrets, honor, and delight. Aurelia Farnharm, the heroine of this story, is a widow who finds out that her late husband was not the man she thought he was. This revelation comes when Colonel Sir Greville Falconer, a persuasive and determined man, finds Aurelia and bids her to marry him in order to fulfill her late husbands' patriotic wishes. Aurelia's life grows ever more dangerous as she entangles her life with Greville's.

Resumen del Editor

When a spymaster proposes marriage as a cover, it might be madness for a lady to indulge in...

A Husband's Wicked Ways

Best-selling author Jane Feather beguiles with this sparkling story of the alluring secrets hidden behind the elegance of Regency London, when a lovely young woman discovers the danger...and delight...of risking everything for love.

Aurelia Farnham believes she is happy living in London's stylish Cavendish Square. But with her friends Livia and Cornelia both married now, Aurelia is the only one still husbandless, and sometimes she longs for more. Then Colonel Sir Greville Falconer storms into her life, delivering a letter from her late husband, a war hero, which reveals he was a spy -- the colonel's spy. Now Greville needs Aurelia to continue the patriotic mission and partner with him as he exposes a ring of Spanish spies who have infiltrated London society.

The attentions of the charismatic Greville excite Aurelia as his mock courtship blurs the line between pretense and reality. When the simmering attraction between them ignites into passion and the danger of Aurelia's double life escalates, Greville insists on marriage as the best way to protect her. Now Aurelia realizes she has more than shadowy antagonists to fear, for she's lost her heart to a dashing spymaster who will one day slip away as suddenly as he appeared....

Performance was a disappointment

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Jane Feather is a very good writer. I've read most of her books, they are intelligent and well written. Unfortunately the reader (performer) was so bad that I finally gave up with 5 hrs remaining in the book. I'll finish with the printed version. Emma Taylor read the main characters parts in a pinched, uptight tone. She was required to use a Russian accent and Spanish accent for certain characters, they both sounded identical (bad). I will admit to being spoiled by such great readers as Simon Prebble, Rosalyn Landor, Davina Porter, Steven Crossley etc. I cannot listen to a poor reader and enjoy the book, no matter how well written.

Would you be willing to try another one of Emma Taylor’s performances?

definitely not

Awesome Read

I enjoyed all three books and each one never disappointed. This was probably my favorite. The heroine is strong and unpredictable and I think that’s why I loved it the most.

Captivating!

This book is the third book of the trilogy of the ladies of Cavendish Square. The characters are interesting. The story involves intrigue & society. Will keep your attention. The plot is full of twists and turns & has just the right amount of spicy romance. Nice to read about strong women characters. Worth of credit.
