A Challenging Spiritual Journey

This book is one of a kind. Presenting five generations of Metis women and at least four generations of bisons, switching between reality and the Afterworld, it challenges the reader to meditate on big existential topics, such as rebirth, continuity of the soul, family, kin, love, forgiveness, collective memory, all brought together by the power of storytelling. Performed on multiple voices, representing different characters, the book creates an immersive experience, where different sentient (and even non-sentient) beings come on stage to fulfill their part in their journey, as well as in everyone else's.
I loved the Grassland character and found the bisons' evolution charming.

One of the finest listens I’ve enjoyed. An incredible gift of a story, fine narration by every actor. This has become one of a few treasured all-time favorites.

So many lovely things about this book - connections, real people, aches and love. Stories, so many stories, told by people living and dead, by bison, by grasslands, a car and 2 dogs. Just awesome!

Great actors

I enjoyed the story itself and the way it was structured. The actors were great, their voices and delivery perfectly matched the characters they were speaking for. I recommend to anyone who enjoys magical realism.

Stories are Great

Loved each woman’s story and felt their pain with each beautiful narration. Was a little disorienting in the beginning until I figured out the flow of the book. Loved the added stories of the land, the dogs, and the bison.

Unique, Artistic, Interesting

First book in a long while where I excitedly exclaimed, "Wow! This is a great book!" while listening to it. Love that Natuve story telling was able to bring a unique listen to my ears and brighten my days. Interesting and creative and helps me process a recent loss, as well. Obviously the voice characters were fab and really brought a great element to the story. 5 stars all around. Thank you.
