Resumen del Editor

Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch is up to his neck in a case that has transfixed all of celebrity-mad Los Angeles: a movie director is charged with murdering an actress during sex, and then staging her death to make it look like a suicide. Bosch is both the arresting officer and the star witness in a trial that has brought the Hollywood media pack out in full-throated frenzy.

Meanwhile, Terry McCaleb is enjoying an idyllic retirement on Catalina Island when a visit from an old colleague brings his former world rushing back. It's a murder, the unreadable kind of murder he specialized in solving back in his FBI days. The investigation has stalled, and the sheriff's office is asking McCaleb to take a quick look at the murder book to see if he turns up something they've missed.

McCaleb's first reading of the crime scene leads him to look for a methodical killer with a taste for rituals and revenge. As his quick look accelerates into a full-sprint investigation, the two crimes - his murdered loner and Bosch's movie director - begin to overlap strangely. With one unsettling revelation after another, they merge, becoming one impossible, terrifying case, involving almost inconceivable calculation. McCaleb believes he has unmasked the most frightening killer ever to cross his sights. But his investigation tangles with Bosch's lines, and the two men find themselves at odds in the most dangerous investigation of their lives.

Don't miss Detective Harry Bosch on the case in these Michael Connelly crime fiction novels.

Wow! What a Rollercoaster!

While i initially thought that the characters were too smart to get drawn into the particular plot that was laid out, I really enjoyed the ride anyway. The narrator was excellent for the Bosch character and the twists and turns were a lot of fun. I turned 4 other people on to the book already and none have been disappointed.

Not like the others

When you get used to a reader/narrater and they change it up for this one, It was hard to listen to and figure out which character was which.

I just didn't like the narrater, his voice did not fit Bosch or Terry.

Good story ruined by bad narration

Another excellent Bosch story, but very disappointed in narrator. He completely distorted my image of Bosch from the earlier books. I really regret that they didn't continue with Dick Hill, who was terrific.

Bosch's Voice was Irritating

Loved the story, as usually, but it was off setting to hear Bosch's voice by Richard Davidson. He needed to switch McCaleb and Bosch' voices. Every time Bosch spoke it was like "who is that?!"

love bosch, but not so keen on performance

Sad to say, this performance doesn't really tally with the Bosch I came to know and love in visual readings. You may, on the other hand, think it's perfect.

Another win foe Connelly

What made the experience of listening to A Darkness More than Night: Harry Bosch Series, Book 7 the most enjoyable?

Great and exciting story that captured my interest on a very long trip - couldn't wait to get back in the car to continue the story.

What did you like best about this story?

Love the whole Harry Bosch seies - have been reading them for many years. One of my favourite authors.

What does Richard M. Davidson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I did NOT like the manner of narration, particularly the way the Bosch character was read. I would think twice about buying another book narrated by this individual. Too dreamatic in places and made Bosch sound much 'seedier' than when I have read the books myself. I known he is a very 'tough' guy but I really had difficulty with the way he was made to sound. Prefer some of the other books by differefnt narrators.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, for the story, but no for the narration, wanted to keep listening but would have preferred to read this one myself.

DD

Not the best narration. The first couple books was the best. It sounds like a new Bosch every couple books. That can take away from the start of a story.

Good Story, Bad Narration

Michael Connelly brings another good Los Angeles Crime story with his familiar characters. Listeners have to wonder why the change in narrators? In the previous Connelly books, Dick Hill has a west coast sound. The narrator of this story, Richard Davidson, sounds like he is from the streets of New York. Did anyone tell him that this story is about characters from Los Angeles? Strong Connelly story, but the story teller was a problem.

The narrators seem to get worse and worse

I love the story. But the narrator’s in the first book started out great and now they seem to get worse and worse. Bosch sounded like wheel with the ball bearings gone. The first rule for an narrater should be, be consistent. The voices were anything but consistent. Second, your first job is only to help the listener keep the characters apart. If you don’t have the skill to act consistently different voices, appropriate to the character, don’t try. I read all the Bosch books and thought I would listen to them. I think I’ll go back and re-read them with my eyes. Shame on whoever is producing these.

Highly Entertaining

I have only recently started listening to Audiobooks, however this series keeps me coming back. A different narrator this time, not bad, but it took a bit to get comfortable with it. a good story, and a satisfying conclusion.
