Acerca de esta escucha
An extraordinary bequest alters their fate…
In the winter of 1846, Cormac and Bridget receive two letters that will change their lives forever. Lord Bewley has died and left Bewley Hall to Cormac, while potato blight has struck the Oakleigh Estate, driving the tenants to appeal to Bridget for help. With their world turned upside down, they decide to leave America and cross the Atlantic to meet the challenges of their pressing responsibilities.
As for their daughter Emily, she faces a choice of her own: will she go with her family or stay in America for her art...and for Rory?
Heading towards new horizons, they must all strive to re-establish themselves while hampered by distrust and prejudice on multiple fronts. When separation once again plunges a member of the family into grave danger, will they be able to distinguish friend from foe?
A Class Inherited is the sixth book in Susie Murphy's historical fiction series A Matter of Class. The story continues in the seventh book, A Class Liberated.

When their elderly guardian dies, Faith Whitford is determined to set up house in Bath and look for respectable country gentlemen for her four sisters. She has no ambitions for mingling with the ton. What she did not expect was a new guardian, in the form of a London Beau to be appointed over them, nor that he would take any interest in their care.

Historia
Hidden away in rural Devonshire, Phyllida Satterthwaite has always been considered more odd than beautiful. But in London, her oddity has made her a sensation. Far worse, it’s caught the eye of the sinister Duke of Moreland - a notorious art collector obsessed with acquiring one-of-a-kind treasures. To escape the duke’s clutches, she’s going to need a little help. Captain Arthur Heywood’s days of heroism are long past. Grievously injured in the Peninsular War, he can no longer walk unaided, let alone shoot a pistol. What use can he possibly be to a damsel in distress?

Historia
Reverend Augustus Shackleford's mission in life (aside from ensuring the collection box was suitably full every Sunday) was to secure advantageous marriages for each of his eight daughters. A tall order, given the fact that in the Reverend's opinion they didn't possess a single ladylike bone in the eight bodies they had between them. Quite where he would find a wealthy titled gentleman bottle headed enough to take any of them on remained a mystery and indeed was likely to test even his legendary resourcefulness.

Awesome series.
This was a fabulous series. Each book took on its own plot and tied in nicely with previous books in the series. Always kept me at the edge of my seat and couldn’t wait to read the next book in the series. S

Good series turned repetitive & tedious
To be honest, what began as a lovely series with excellent characters has begun to grow weary. Not because of the story itself nor the characters - most of which I like. My issue is with the fact that the underlying thread is for the most part: rich people are bad, poor people are worthy & being rich isn’t as honorable as being poor, so fight to be poor. It’s absurdity I’d just too much at this point. At book 5 it became obvious but this one was the nail in the coffin. These poor people who chose to be poor once they got to America (book 3) do everything to remain poor rather than seek opportunities available to them. This book is worst because the storyline between Bridget and Cormac is lovely, but Emily and Rory follow the exact same formula and they have zero chemistry. It’s too sappy and stilted. Too unbelievable. I feel like the author is going to move now to tell their story which is the spitting image of their parents. This is where I leave the series. I’ll not be reading more. Too bad. It has such a good start.
