Resumen del Editor

How can you foster an exceptional child's motivation to seek an independent life?

Jim Hasse, who has athetoid cerebral palsy and served for 10 years as a Fortune 500 vice president during his 29-year career in corporate communication, has some answers - not-so-difficult things that your youngster probably won't pick up at school but you can practice together right now at home.

The key, Jim shows, is sidestepping disability and developing the capacity to reach out to others on the job, in social situations, within a family, and as a marriage partner.

Time is short, and times are uncertain. But now is the right time for helping your youngster develop the skills and strengths for handling the challenges he or she will likely face during the teen years and later as adults.

In this transformation audiobook, Jim identifies seven career-builders you can use to help your high school student learn how to reach out to others, a key factor in effective disability development, career readiness, and interpersonal communication.

Jim, a global career development facilitator (GCDF), illustrates each of those seven bits of career advice with a transformation story from his own experiences.

For each short story, he defines the issue at hand for learning how to live and work well with a disability, shows how his parents and others helped him personally resolve the situation, and provides a potential path you can follow as a mentor for your high school student.

High school, after all, is not too early for establishing an understanding between you and your young person about how to approach disability from a personal as well as employment perspective!

Listen to Little Book 3 now to complete the next mile in your journey as a coaching parent or mentor for a special youngster with unexpected challenges about love, life, work, and disability.

Revealing Stories

This “coming-of-age” series of seven narratives is an entertaining study of how disability can affect interpersonal relationships. Jim finds shades of light in difficult circumstances, but he does not pull punches when he finds misconceptions in his own drive to live well with his life-long disability. As a result, these personal-experience stories about love, life and disability become sometimes-brutal milestones in his 70-year quest to reach out to non-disabled others and find personal freedom when he knows he’ll never quite fit society’s mold. This is an “edgy” audiobook for those who consider coaching individuals with a disability as an interesting but important calling that is definitely not for those who like to avoid risk.
