Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

The interpretations...........loved them. What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
Robert Greene almost seems as though he is Nostradamus, but he is not. He basically tells us that people are predictable if we just open our eyes.Have you listened to any of Richard Poe’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
NoIf you could give 48 Laws of Power a new subtitle, what would it be?
The BibleAny additional comments?

After reading this book, I've been able to label and identify the crafty politics of professional peers with the accuracy and stealth of an assassin. I recently identified a moment of "get others to do the work for you, but always take the credit." Except I was the "others." This same person revealed their intentions (regression of Conceal Your Intentions ) to a coworker who I am great friends with, in private. My friend *posed as a friend, but worked as a spy*, reporting back what this guy's plans were. His intentions were not good. I have a strong reputation for being a finisher and any project I am tossed onto succeeds (software). His intention was to use my track record of success to get me to complete a project as dictated by him, but to exclude key details required for success. When presenting the work, he would take credit for all the good parts, while claiming that the gap in quality was due to where I didn't listen to him. This would inflate the perceived value of his word and demonstrate that not following his advice leads to failure. He would then request that the project be transferred to another employee, one of his close friends, to finish off the remaining 20% required for success, after which he would champion his work for "saving the day" and put him up for a promotion.
He should have known who he was dealing with - and not offend the wrong person.
Knowing he was trying to royally screw me, I dealt back my own deck of cards (control the options - get others to play with the cards you deal). As he presented the project, I played the perfect courtier. I played a sucker and seemed dumber than my mark. I planned all the way to the end knowing the project reveal would be at a meeting without developers (me), Towards the end of the project, I let him know that things weren't going well. It didn't just miss the mark in what he asked for, other parts were worse than expected and I wasn't able to finish. With this shortcoming, I wanted to take full responsibility and present a status of where the work was at instead of the kickoff. He would ping me before our time slot and I would show up to present and leave. This played right into his fantasy. Except I had read this book.
To make the project successful was immediately apparent to me. It needed about two more weeks worth of work. After I got home each night, I ate dinner and worked another hour or two from home. I ended up finishing the project a week early, including all of the requirements he left out, and some additional features I added. Instead of waiting to show up, I was sitting at the center of our 18 person table when he arrived. You see, I had contacted our skip level and asked to go first. I had a live demo ready to go... with his favorite customer on the call to demonstrate it for me. I made it a compelling spectacle. After the customer hung up and the cheerful laughs subsided, I went into the post mortem of how the project went. Unfortunately, our project manager's requirements were insufficient for what the customer truly wanted. Thankfully, I had caught it early and was able to complete the full project, effortlessly (no mention of the late nights). Knowing we were out of time, I thanked everyone for taking the time to understand our project and encouraged the meeting to continue, never giving a moment to my adversary. Both my boss and skip then asked me to stick around, as my insight on some other projects behind schedule could be useful.
I not only played the corporate politics, but I had FUN doing so and got a big, fatty mid-year bonus check in the process. The only thing I have left for this person is that I need to crush them totally. I can't wait.
