Amazing and insightful

not only am I going to partially use this book as a guide for my future self sufficient farm but I would use it as a revolutionary solution to our growing agriculture problems. I would invoke any person whether backyard gardeners to large scale farmers to read and think about how the conditions of our annual agriculture system aren't getting better and the lengths we are taking to maintain it not only are damaging to our planet but to our health and well being and will not last forever. it's an ever growing world and we need to grow with it or end up like the dinos and fallen civilizations before us.

A topic I think more about especially with the depletion of farm lands. This book addresses large and small plots along with overall problems and solutions.

Absolutely Excellent

This book should be necessary reading material in every school. Excellent book for all ages. I would give it 20 stars, 5 is not enough. This story has the power to advance civilization in a huge way.

Great explanation but missing one key topic

As a fellow restoration agriculture or permaculture practitioner, I’m already a believer. I feel like this book was written to convince ppl of the need to switch from monoculture agriculture to poly culture. Since I’m already there, it was a good explanation of the cost analysis and I appreciate the data that went into explaining everything. However, one key component that was not addressed at all is LABOR! We all know that poly cultures require a lot more labor than monocultures especially since there are not the mechanized equipment to harvest most of the crops that he describes. And I also found it disappointing that he basically said agriculture will never be profitable so how in the world are we really going to convince ppl to transform production? The labor factor is huge and needs to be addressed.

The Author

The author’s experience, much more than any “education” or degree (but he does have these things as well) gives the book great authority. Inspiring ideas and a lot thought provoking data to show permaculture is not only feasible, but it’s superior in every feasible way to agriculture. Also gives ideas for starts in a few different biomes.

This book is so good.

I absolutely loved this book. We have been on a gardening journey for awhile, studied a lot of different ideas. It wasn't until this book that everything seemed to click in my head. Every alternative gardening method is right as long as we combine them all? Seems to easy, though in reality it is that easy.

very informative

I'm going to use a lot of what I've learned in this book on my own property and hopefully inspire others to do the same.
