I love fantasy so a good sapphic fantasy is wonderful to listen to. The MCs had believable character arcs. I think the HIgh Mage’s reasons for her emotional walls could have been explored more. The spicy scenes were hot, especially the ones with magic.

The narrator was excellent. I hope to hear her narrate more books. An epilogue would have rounded the story out nicely.

My only nitpick complaint is the authors use of “groin” as a descriptor during spicy scenes. This author used “pubic region” in another book. I think those two terms are anatomical and not suited for spicy scenes.

There were times I was yelling at one or the other MCs. They occasionally needed a slap upside the head. With that said, I did enjoy most of the story and narration. Their magical bond was awesome in the best of ways and troublesome in other ways.

As for mature content, get ready for a 🌶️🌶️🌶️🔥

I disagree with the lower rating of this book. it was 100% worth the listen. especially since it's now in the plus catalog... maybe because it was a fantasy/royal book, people assumed there would be war and monsters? idk. the book is about an unwilling queen and her mage. I won't spoil the details. personally, i think people should ignore the 4 star rating and give it a chance.

edit: I'm so glad the rating has gone up substantially ♡

Wonderful narration, great characters, world building and writing. Yes, hoping for an heir, a sequel or better yet, a series. Check out the other book on Audible by Ms. Blaine. It’s delightful as well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

A ghost pepper hot historical romance filled with magic, mystery and political intrigue

Such a great story. A princess who doesn’t want to be queen and a mage who has to train her in one year to take her rule on the throne. This book is about their relationship and coming to terms with their rules. So much spice!!!! Well written and worth multiple listens.
