In Twisted Devotion, Emily finds herself caught in the grip of a dangerous man whose obsession turns her life upside down. As the lines between fear, desire, and control blur, she has to decide how far she's willing to go to protect her sense of self, even when escape seems impossible.

I enjoyed this stalker dark romance. Emily’s fighter spirit was so satisfying to watch. She knew she might not come out on top, but she refused to be passive. Her resilience made me root for her, even when things got intense. There’s a raw, chaotic pull between her and the love interest that fans of obsessive romance tropes will likely enjoy.

That said, I wish we had more time with these characters. Everything moved so fast that I didn’t fully connect with them the way I wanted to. A few more chapters could have helped build the emotional layers and tension. Still, the pacing kept me turning the pages, and I was definitely entertained from beginning to end.

This is a great pick for readers who enjoy dark, fast-paced romances with gritty emotional stakes and don’t mind morally gray dynamics.

First of all, the narrators? Chefs kiss!

I really enjoyed the storyline. Smutty with a bit of ~death~.

Emily’s character was SO sweet and innocent, until she wasn’t and I absolutely loved it. Eliza Nyx was the perfect fit and by far one of my favorite narrators.

Ruarc’s character had me feeling some type of way, but I was wanting SO much more from him. Lucas Troy as a narrator really brought the character to life and I for sure am looking forward to listen to other things he’s in!

Excited to listen to more in the series!

This is the first audiobook I’ve listened to where I haven’t read the book prior already, and I think it was a good choice to start with! The pace of the narration was perfect to keep up and process what was happening well. I really enjoyed the premise of the book, it’s dark and twisty, totally up my alley. I think the narrators did a really good job differentiating the characters’ voices. I absolutely love that this is read as a duet - it makes for a more enjoyable listening experience in my opinion and helps break up what’s dialogue vs thought more. I think this narration was cast really well - they brought the book to life! Lucas’ voice really gives the unhinged MMC that menacing voice necessary for a book like this; while, Eliza provides a contrasting innocence that the FMC has in the beginning. I would definitely recommend this audiobook to anyone wanting to dip into the dark romance genre!

Ruarc saw Emily after a change meeting. He became obsessed with her. Emily was supposed to be a chess piece, something to bargin with. Until he fell for her and Emily's boring life became so much more interesting after he knapped her. She fell for him and wanted to stay. The narrators, Eliza Nyx and Lucas Troy did a fantastic job with the characters. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what is going to happen next. Their voices had me fully immersed in the story! The different characters had very different voices. I couldn't tell it was the same narrator voicing different characters and that makes a book so much better!

The spice was top tier, and I loved the theme around the funeral home which gave it a little something extra. The majority of the book revolves around a build up to the MMCs obsession, and there was a point where it was a little dragged out for me, but the beginning and the end were amazing. I love the characters, and the audiobook was a fun, spicy, dark, and quick listen. I think this is the first time listening to these narrators, and I really enjoyed the amount of acting they both put into their narration. I would maybe just say pull back on the 'acting' just a smidge when it's not dialogue. Don't get rid of it completely because it was refreshing to have someone not just rely on their voice, but if it's not dialogue maybe pick which parts you choose to dramatize. The acting really put me 'in the middle' of the story. If you're looking for an obsessed man who kidnaps his muse, then this is a fun dark listen for you!

My first takeaway is about the story itself. I do enjoy a good enemies to lovers, he falls first, kidnapping and Stockholm syndrome. This story gave us all of that! I felt like the beginning started off a little slow for me. There was so much detail thrown into the first chapter I felt myself saying okay get on with it. Once it picked up a little bit I was good to go! They way Ruarc spoke in the beginning I expected him to be into some crazy bdsm but felt more of the spicy scenes were pretty tame and not what I was expecting.

The narration was great!!! This was my first time listening to Lucas Troy and Eliza Nxy. I really enjoyed their voices and narration style. Loved Lucas’s deep voice!!! Thought they both did an amazing job!!

What’s it about?
Emily works as a mortician in her family’s mortuary, and her dad has one rule: don’t enter the mortuary after midnight. Breaking the rule, she runs into a monster and realizes that her father was illegally cremating corpses for him. Now her discovery has resulted in her becoming Ruarc’s captive as leverage against her father. Emily knows she hates monstrous Ruarc but then why does she begin to crave his dark and twisted attentions?

Ruarc is a man who lives by the rule: Do not get involved! As the ruthless leader of the syndicate, he can’t afford to let anyone in, and his new obsession with his captive isn’t going to change that—even if he’s decided to keep her.

My thoughts:

Emily and Ruarc’s enemies to lovers dynamic creates delicious tension between them and when they finally give in to their attraction, the spice is 🔥! Ruarc’s morally grey, tortured character is well developed, and his over the top possessive actions to protect his new obsession seems a lot like love—not that he knows what that emotion is. I found myself immediately captivated by their story and looked forward to listening to it every day. Shout out to the narrators, Eliza Nyx and Lucas Troy, for bringing the character’s to life. Lucas’ performance as Ruarc left me swooning, and I will be looking for other works narrated by these two in the future.

If you love a mafia romance with a morally grey, obsessive MC, a feisty, strong FMC and tropes including touch her and 💀, forced proximity, captivity, DubCon and Primal play, I recommend adding this audiobook to your TBL!

This book had me hooked from the beginning! I LOVE an unhinged stalker MMC who will do anything and everything to have you. The way Lucas Troy and Eliza Nyx brought the characters to life through all the emotions is incredible. Just imagine you’re watching all of the events take place right smack dab in the middle of it, that’s how it felt. I felt like I was experiencing everything along side of Ruarc and Emily.

This was a new to me author and I wasn’t disappointed. I did think it was a little long but still enjoyable. Ruarc the morally grey alpha you want to kidnap you and bond with 🙂‍↔️ Emily is a feisty one, she gave Ruarc a run for his money and damn did he work for it

I read this one as an audiobook and enjoyed it. Lucas Troy is a new to me narrator and his voice 😮‍💨 he brought Ruarc to life. The emotion and sound effects were lit…his growl 🫠🫠🫠. Eliza Nyx was also new to me and chef kiss as well. Portrayed the feistiness well.
