Resumen del Editor

American artist Jeremy Keane refuses to return home and take over his father's business. He'd much rather sample bevvies of beauties abroad, in search of a model for the provocative masterpiece he's driven to paint. When he meets Lady Yvette Barlow at a London wedding, he realizes she's perfect for his work - and determines to capture the young heiress' defiant spirit and breathtaking sensuality on canvas.

No stranger to scandal, Yvette agrees to be Keane's subject - in exchange for his help gaining entry to the city's brothels he knows intimately, so she can track a missing woman and solve a family mystery. But when their practical partnership leads to lessons in the art of sinning, can they find a bold and lasting love?

Contains mature themes.

Great Series Starter

Sabrina Jeffries and Beverley A Crick made a good duo for this book. It’s a good story and a good introduction to more characters. If you are a fan of Ms Jeffries you may also recognize other names from The Dukes Men series. I suspect a couple of other links are hidden as well as there were things touched on, such as a kidnapping, that were never fully explored.

Good but lacked something

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend it for the story but not for the narration. The narration somehow lacked the passion that should have permeated the dialog.

What did you like best about this story?

The story was intriguing, the dialog clever and the characters fairly well developed but I just didn't believe the relationship between the couple.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

As I said earlier there was something lacking in the narration.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I can't think of any in particular.

Great Story Semi-Related to the Duke's Men Series!

I had no idea this book and its characters were somewhat related to The Duke's Men series. Specifically, the hero is Jeremy who we were first introduced to in How a Scoundrel Seduces. He is Lady Zoe's cousin from America who is an artist and a rogue and traveling the world to perfect his art. I really enjoyed listening to Jeremy's back story and watching him fall in love with a bright, compassionate, and very unorthodox woman.

Narrators need to do research

I always love Sabrina Jeffries however I hate the inconsistency of the narrator's for her books. It's obvious that narrators are not familiar how a lot of the pre-existing characters have been betrayed before.

Great start to a new series

Quite good. Very entertaining.

Great characters that kept me interested. So much so that I couldn't put it down. I liked the references to the Duke's Men from the previous series.

Great narration!!

I'm glad this is the first in a series so we have more to look forward to.

Decent story and good narration.

I liked this story, it was fun and interesting. I liked the heroine, Yvette, She had spunk and personality, strong and witty, not a simpering whiny heroine. Such a relief. I liked Jeremy too. He was pretty straight forward character.
The chemistry between the two was very good. There was a couple well written sex scenes so it's not a rated G book, not erotica either.

The story line and plot was decent. The dialogue was great, and there was lots of it!.

This is no Hellions of Halstead series (that was my favorite Sabrina Jeffries series to read not the audible) But it was decent enough.

As for the narration, I liked, I think Beverly Crick is growing on me, She does make the men sound like men and all the characters have their own distinct voice. She has a nice reading voice too. She seems to get better and better.

Great story with a strong female character

wonderful story, well written and read well. I was amused by the American accent, although I'm sure brits are amused when we do an English accent. ;)

Would like whine with that?

I feel bad when I write bad reviews but.... these characters sounded so whiny! Not about the sad stuff just in general whining! I believe it’s the reader that makes this soooo pronounced.

Didn’t like it

I got very frustrated listening to this more than a few times. She was quite annoying. I usually like books when the girl knows what she wants and is head over heels for the guy but she seemed to be fishing for compliments and always needed proof he was into her. He was very clear from the beginning that he didn’t want to marry and she always pressed for more. At one point he’s the one trying to convince her to marry! What the heck??? I didn’t care for all the contradicting feelings. There was absolutely no building of the relationship and love. Yes he was physically attracted to her but there was nothing to show how they could go from there. During the love scenes there was so much extra talk that it got distracting. If you’re in the moment you wouldn’t be talking about the things coming out of their mouths! I’m glad it’s over. I usually enjoy this narrator but for some reason didn’t enjoy her work in this book. I’d pass on this one.
