The Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller!

What is wrong meets what feels right in this romance set in Italy by the New York Times bestselling author of Deep End.

Maya Killgore is twenty-three and still in the process of figuring out her life.

Conor Harkness is thirty-eight, and Maya cannot stop thinking about him.

It’s such a cliché, it almost makes her heart implode: older man and younger woman; successful biotech guy and struggling grad student; brother’s best friend and the girl he never even knew existed. As Conor loves to remind her, the power dynamic is too imbalanced. Any relationship between them would be problematic in too many ways to count, and Maya should just get over him. After all, he has made it clear that he wants her gone from his life.

But not everything is as it seems—and clichés sometimes become plot twists.

When Maya’s brother decides to get married in Taormina, she and Conor end up stuck together in a romantic Sicilian villa for over a week. There, on the beautiful Ionian coast, between ancient ruins, delicious foods, and natural caves, Maya realizes that Conor might be hiding something from her. And as the destination wedding begins to erupt out of control, she decides that a summer fling might be just what she needs—even if it’s a problematic one.

This book was fine, not my favorite of AH but the cameos were great. I would skip the audiobook. Both narrators are truly awful. I was so disappointed bc Not in Love was an exceptional audiobook but this was actually hard to get through. The female narrators over exaggerated interpretation was so incredibly obnoxious and kind of ruined the book for me.

It was ok

Great story spin off of Not In Love. Marginally better perhaps. Unfortunately the audio leaves a lot to be desired. I did read this physical book before listening and it was much better in that format.

The female narrator has a rough start but seems to settle in after a few chapters. The male narrator just did not hit the mark. The audio for Ely made me cringe. Sounded like a 60 year old grump and nothing like his portrayal in the first book. It would have served the author well to go with the original narrator for this character. Conor’s accent wasn’t consistent which was distracting from the story.

The age gap was overdone. I get it’s the premise but a tad bit overkill. Still a huge fan of Ali Hazelwood. I hope that she doesn’t repeat these audio mistakes for the sequel of Bride.

Glad I read the physical book first…

The narrator was incredible and the writing was SO witty. I wish there was more at the end to the story and Maya finally got serious. But it was also her personality and stick true to it.

Best narrator ever!

Loved this story and laughed so many times. Love Eric Nolan and the female narrator was the first time I heard her but she was great!

So funny and great story and narration

Love the story and the voices are great. Irish accent is sooo adding to the character!

This book is a perfect summer read. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a fun, romantic, witty book.

The banter

I loved everything. So funny, I laughed out loud many times. The tension was amazing. Secret pining is what Ali does best and now she also does banter and spice really well too. 🤌🏻 I’m not talking frequency. I’m talking so deeply swoony and real my stomach actually flipped. There is no flowery dialogue but it was so romantic and hot!.

These are real people if real people were ever this cool. I love them. No notes.

Swoony, hilarious and absolutely perfect

I love all of Ali Hazelwood’s books. She is brilliant author and I have read all her books.

I love their story, their back and forth.

I love everything Ali Hazelwood writes! Elizabeth Lamont did a great job - consistent with the bubbly FMC in all Hazelwood's books. The male narrator sounded so stiff and fake. It did not even sound like a human conversation. It really sounded like AI, like she was talking to a robot.

Great story, terrible male narrator

Maya had me cackling the entire time. I normally don’t like brother’s best friend AND I was unsure about the age gap thing (dumb trope). But this was good. I also love the throwback to Rue and Eli. Anyway, it was funny, fluff.

Cackling
