I know a lot of people had an issue enjoying book one. They stated that enjoyed the premise, but the ending was too bittersweet. Maybe it's because I knew what was going to happen to the characters in question in advance, but I honestly don't agree. I absolutely loved this book (book1) from start to finish.! The premise is something I've never read before, the characters back stories and trauma is completely explained making their motivations understandable. It's well written and the narrator is great. I like my books steamy, but I don't like it when sex scenes are just thrown in just to be gratuitous, so I appreciate that the spice helps drive the story instead of being the entire story. I honestly think it's probably one of the best books I've listened to on audible and I have 356 titles in my library. if you find yourself concerned you won't like the book based on other reviews I would understand what happens to the two main characters at the start of the book and then read it. That way you're not upset when the story doesn't play out the way you think it should or expect it to...

Much of the internet seems to agree that the first book, Beyond Time, does NOT have a happy ending (they say it's bittersweet at best). As I was listening, I got worried because of Seth's deep grief. I looked up spoilers and wasn't able to finish the book. I really like the unique premise and the characters BUT

Jayce DOES NOT come back. He's truly just *poof* gone. And, according to the reviews I found, Clay also, essentially, dies. Book 1.5 is the story of Jayce and Clay meeting in their next lives and finding love with each other, but that's just not what I wanted. Some sort of polyamorous situation where all 4 people found happiness together would have been awesome. I didn't want to suffer through the grief and pain, especially if the situation couldn't be made right.
