Historia
In an industry where celebrity chefs are known as much for their salty talk and quick tempers as their food, Eric Ripert stands out. The winner of four James Beard Awards, co-owner and chef of a world-renowned restaurant, and recipient of countless Michelin stars, Ripert embodies elegance and culinary perfection. But before the accolades, before he even knew how to make a proper hollandaise sauce, Eric Ripert was a lonely young boy in the south of France whose life was falling apart.

“Beautiful Story”
The narrator of this book is superb! Is very lovely to learn how Eric Ripert became who the wonderful chef he is. Couldn't help but want to eat Nutella on a baguette when listening to the chapters about his childhood and what would be his afternoon snack, lol. Very inspiring how by hard work and dedication he took a leap of faith coming to America for new beginnings. Love, love this story♥️ —Wendy, Audible Listener

“Inspiring Book to Learn Home Cooking”
I really enjoyed listening to this book. It was well-thought out, in that the author gives recipes and the reasons why we should take time to cook what we eat instead of eating out of cans and boxes. The narrator does not leave you bored, but wanting to listen to what is happening and coming next. I have gone through culinary school and still learned a few things while being reminded of some things that I had forgotten. This book is great for a beginner to a seasoned chef. —Desiree, Audible Listener

Garlic and Sapphires is Ruth Reichl's riotous account of the many disguises she employs to dine anonymously. There is her stint as Molly Hollis, a frumpy blond with manicured nails and an off-beige Armani suit that Ruth takes on when reviewing Le Cirque. The result: her famous double review of the restaurant: First she ate there as Molly; and then as she was coddled and pampered on her visit there as Ruth, New York Times food critic.

“Dream Job”
This book was an interesting look at Ruth Reichl's career as restaurant reviewer for The New York Times. Yes, it would be my dream job, but I doubt if I could enter into the masquerade as fully, and with such joy, as Ruth. I love her sense of fun even as she's working. Her idea to return to restaurants masquerading as different people to see how other classes are treated was genius. I'd invite her to dinner any time. Whether she liked my food or not, I would be sure of receiving an honest opinion and have a lively & intelligent dinner guest. —Irene, Audible Listener

“Life of a revolutionary”
I listened to this book on a trip through Avignon and Paris and it was wonderful. What an addition to our travels by TGV train south from Paris. The reader was a delight and more than up to the challenges of the french language and all the culinary terms. Julia's take on the world a breath of fresh air. I was sorry when the book came to and end. However, to compensate I have pulled out my dog-eared copies of Mastering the Art and jumped back into cooking a la Julia! Brava Audible! —Sara

Historia
Among Americans, diabetes is more prevalent today than ever. Obesity is at epidemic proportions; nearly 10% of children are thought to have nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. And sugar is at the root of these, and other, critical, society-wide, health-related problems. With his signature command of both science and straight talk, Gary Taubes delves into Americans' history with sugar: its uses as a preservative, as an additive in cigarettes, the contemporary overuse of high-fructose corn syrup.

“Will never eat sugar again”
I admit that what I was looking for was just a few tidbits of information that I could use to help myself decrease my sugar intake. You know, something to scare me into resisting my second helping of dessert. Instead, what I got was a well-researched, well-thought-out, history of the rise of sugar and all of the moments (and people) in history that helped make sugar what it is today (an enormous part of our daily diet and society). And boy, did I get some 'tidbits' of information to curb my sugar appetite. Because of this book and its research, timeline, and inside scoop of health/nutrition advocacy, I have vowed to dramatically cut my sugar intake and those of my family. —Elle, Audible Listener

Once again, Marcella Says
- De Victoria en 07-23-16
“Once again, Marcella Says”
The narrator spoke with a beautiful clear voice in English and a lovely accent when speaking Italian. Simply perfect. While I think it is possible that after listening, many people will buy a copy of the book to have in the kitchen, nothing can replace the feeling, while listening, that you are actually chatting with Marcella. If you already love Marcella, this is a must-listen. If you don't already love Marcella, you will by the time you get to the end. –Victoria, Audible Listener

Historia
Today’s optimistic farm-to-table food culture has a dark secret: The local food movement has failed to change how we eat. It has also offered a false promise for the future of food. In his visionary New York Times best-selling book, chef Dan Barber, recently showcased on Netflix’s Chef’s Table, offers a radical new way of thinking about food that will heal the land and taste good, too. Looking to the detrimental cooking of our past, and the misguided dining of our present, Barber points to a future “third plate”.

“Such a surprise, really enjoyed this book”
This was a terrific book to listen to. As a food grower and a food eater and someone who's trying to live more consciously on this earth I learned a tremendous amount from the author. He goes into such depth and detail traveling all around the world providing history and depth of experience that made this a really enlightening listen. I would put this book at the top of any list of book on food and farming, maybe even the best so far. A terrific story teller with a tremendous depth of knowledge around food and soil and offering many directions for more sustainable eating. –Kate, Audible Listener
