February is a special time

of year for me because it’s Black History Month. Even though it’s sadly just one month, Black History Month is an integral time of year to truly focus on the foundation of America and countless other countries. It is a time to not only celebrate what it means to be Black in the world, but also the important contributions made by Black people. To get in the spirit of February, I scoured our library to bring you some of the best mysteries, thrillers, and tales of horror by Black authors.

I also have to give a quick belated shout-out to Valentine’s Day. Even though pink is not the new black according to my wardrobe, chocolates and gifts are right up my alley. Back in elementary school, my teachers would bring in treats and cards for all the kids on Valentine’s Day. It was such a pure time! Don’t cue the awwwws just yet, because as time flies by that pretty pink can turn to a sweet blood red rather quickly. Let me show you the thin line between love and obsession!

Whether you’re here to lift every voice or bring in the love, enjoy!
